Ashland University has a history of excellence dating all the way back to 1878. Programs offered through the College of Business & Economics are ACBSP accredited and follow a competency-based curriculum with a focus on real-world application.
Education
The College of Business & Economics offers Associate’s through Master’s degrees. Bachelor’s degrees are available with concentrations covering many areas of study such as Fashion Merchandising, Hospitality Management, Sport Management, and International Business. A Master’s of Business Administration can be obtained with several specialization and format choices. There are three distance learning options, including one year MBA, one year Sport Management MBA, and a traditional online MBA. There are also opportunities available on-campus with a one year International, full-time, Healthcare emphasis, part-time, and hybrid MBA programs.
Student Life
Business students will benefit from the many student organizations and student life resources available to both on-campus and online students. A few of the clubs designed with business in mind are Sport Business Club, Human Resources Student Chapter, Eagle Entrepreneurs, and Future Business Leaders of America. The Ascend Leadership Series is a unique program that includes students in hour-long leadership development workshops throughout the year. These sessions are meant to leave students with actionable advice that can be directly applied to their life and educational endeavors. Leadership & Service Awards is a special opportunity for anyone on campus to nominate leaders on campus for a variety of recognitions. Ashland participates in living and learning communities for first-year students. This program encourages connection through pairing students living arrangements based on their major of study. Ashland takes this idea a step further with its new Second Year LLC for the Emerging Leaders program. In this group, students from various study backgrounds will encourage one another as they participate in leadership skill-building activities such as learning about leadership styles, discovering personal strengths, and building communication skills.
Online Programs
The online Master’s of Business Administration Program at Ashland University can be completed in only one year. Up to three years can be taken for students who prefer to work at a part-time pace. U.S. News and World Report recently ranked this degree as the #5 Online MBA Program in Ohio for 2019. Ashland’s MBA also holds prestigious ACBSP accreditation, is an AACSB member, and carries PMP certification. Students have 11 areas of specialization to choose from, like Management Information Systems, Entrepreneurship, Global Management, and Accounting. Tuition is very affordable and includes a Verizon Wireless MiFi Hotspot with a year of internet service to make learning accessible from anywhere. Students who are local to central Ohio have the option to take courses on-campus as well.
