The AACSB-accredited School of Business at The College of New Jersey just celebrated its 30th year, offering a rigorous curriculum founded in liberal arts integrated with business innovation. They work hard to provide every opportunity to find success. Business students grow in forward-thinking, analytical skills, leadership, social responsibility, perseverance, creativity, problem-solving, and a global perspective.

Education

Undergraduate students can obtain a Bachelors in Economics, Accounting, or Business Administration. BBA students can specialize in Finance, Marketing, Interdisciplinary Business, or Management. There is also an Open Options Business major for the undecided. Also, to provide extensive studies in global business, the SoB offers Global Business I and Global Business II. The first one adds a minor in International Studies to a business major, and the second one combines a double major in International Studies with the International Economics & Trade concentration. Both include an international study abroad trip. Any business major can partake in a study abroad trip to gain global business insight. They can enjoy a semester in Chile or at the European Study Center in Heidelberg, Germany. There are also two-three week immersion trips to study in France, Switzerland, Ghana, or Germany. Graduate students can pursue the hybrid Master of Business Administration degree with specializations in Data Analytics and Strategy, Innovation, & Leadership. Fall, spring, and summer courses combine online learning with in-person sessions on several Saturdays throughout the year.

Student Life

Several student organizations exist for business students to grow in their knowledge, skills, leadership abilities, and relationships. Groups include Alpha Kappa Psi, Economics Club, Financial Management Association, Entrepreneurship Club, Women in Business, Creo Consulting, and the National Association of Black Accountants. Through these organizations, academic classes, and other connections, students have an incredible active learning opportunity to compete with their peers and universities in the state and the nation. TCNJ students have placed among the top in the Pro-Am Sell-A-Thon Competition, National Virtual Sales Competition, and the International Collegiate Sales Competition.

Other experiential learning opportunities include managing a real-life portfolio with the Student Investment Fund and utilizing the professional Bloomberg terminals in the Financial Learning Center. Also, working with real-time data simulation in the EY Audit Lab and completing a Community Engagement Experience project are helpful resources. For an incomparable hands-on experience, students are highly encouraged to intern with a professional business while earning their degree. TCNJ students have interned with J.P. Morgan, Goldman Sachs, CNBC, and Johnson & Johnson. Connecting with alumni through lunches, tours of their firms, field trips to their work, and 3rd Wednesday Panel Discussions, is a highly beneficial learning experience. Students can also participate in helping the community through the Center for Innovation & Ethics and the Small Business Development Center.

Online Programs

There are certain classes offered online during winter and summer sessions. The MBA is delivered through a mix of online courses and in-person meetings on Saturdays throughout the year. The MBA does offer 100% online classes during the winter session.
