Founded in 1963, and then known as the College of Commerce, the business program at UL Lafayette has grown and gone through many changes over the years. In 1973 the college was reorganized into several new departments, and many new majors have been added to the college since. In 1980 they were renamed the College of Business Administration, and in 2004 the College received its current title as the B. I. Moody III College of Business Administration. In 2005 the school moved from F.G. Mouton Hall to its current home in Moody Hall.

“The B. I. Moody III College of Business Administration is a vibrant learning community in a culturally rich region. [They] foster intellectual curiosity, creativity, and innovation to produce a seasoned gumbo of successful professionals, scholars, and global citizens.” Fewer than five percent of business programs in the world have accreditation through AACSB, but the B. I. Moody III College of Business Administration consistently maintains this accreditation, which has to be re-evaluated every five years. The business program was commended by AACSB for its focus on student engagement and community outreach. They seek to develop leaders who are ethically responsible by keeping their values and goals as a priority. The Moody College of Business has repeatedly been ranked as one of the nations top business schools. The MBA program was recently ranked highly by U.S. News and World Report, as well as Princeton Review.

Education

The Moody College of Business Administration offers bachelor’s degrees in Economics, Finance, Hospitality Management, Accounting, Insurance and Risk Management, Marketing, Management, and Professional Land and Resource Management. They also offer a Master’s of Business Administration, Executive MBA, and Master’s of Science in Accounting. The Professional Land and Resource Management degree program is one of only a few in North America and prepares students for how to acquire, manage, and negotiate resources, especially related to the oil and gas industry. Graduates from this program are provided with various opportunities in Louisiana’s flagship land and resource industry. The Moody College of Business Administration also offers several online programs including a degree in Business Management, Master’s of Business Administration, and Graduate Certificate of Business Administration. UL Lafayette is the only university in Louisiana to offer a 15-credit hour Graduate Certificate of Business Administration.

Student Life

One thing that sets UL Lafayette apart is its Living Learning Communities or LLCs. These residential communities for freshman provide a unique learning and social experiences for students with the same interests. The program offers special events that allow students a residential experience that is supportive, active, and exciting. The Taste of Business LLC introduces students to the world of business through all academic areas and reinforces their education through special events sponsored by the Moody College of Business Administration.

Online Programs

Students with many commitments have the ability to complete their degree online through the Moody College of Business Administration. Undergraduates can earn a business management degree, while graduate students may choose from an MBA or certificate in business administration.
