Education
Interdisciplinary curriculum and research constitute a unique education that prepares business students to face challenges, solve problems and best lead organizations in any industry. Bachelors degree students can major in Finance; Accounting; International Business Regional Studies; International Political Economy & Business; Management, Leadership, & Innovation; Operations & Information Management; or Marketing. Spring of 2020 will launch the new Bachelors in Business & Global Affairs. Graduate students have several options for degree programs. There is a Full-time Masters in Business Administration and the Flex MBA. Other graduate degrees include the Executive MBA, Masters in International Business & Policy, Masters in Management, Masters in Finance, and the Executive Masters in Leadership Program.
Global business education is integrated into the coursework and found in international consulting projects, international internships, and influenced by the diversity of the culture of students, staff, and faculty. Undergraduates can elect, and graduate students are required to travel to places like France, Mexico, Syria, and South Africa to interact with Fortune 500 companies. While obtaining a Bachelors degree, students can also choose to complete some business courses at the Chinese University of Hong Kong or Oxford University. MBA students can spend a semester in London, Paris, Spain, Saudi Arabia, and Nicaragua.
Student Life
Students can find a plethora of opportunities to learn outside of the classroom, develop leadership skills, build relationships, serve others, network, and have fun. Joining one of the many student-led organizations helps accomplish these goals. Business groups include the Asia Business Consortium, Black MBA Association, Business & Government Alliance, Georgetown Christians in Business, Consulting Club, Startup Hoyas, Women in Business, Jewish Business Alliance, MBA Volunteers, and FinTech Club.
Another way is through the numerous events and activities provided by the University. Leaders from all over the world and share their experiences. There is also the opportunity to consult with people like the Spanish Ambassador and the Ambassador of Panama. Undergraduate students can conduct research with faculty members. There are career treks and site visits that give students insight into the way businesses work. The hands-on opportunities lie within the many national and international case competitions, the MBA IFC Consulting Program, Global Social Internship Program, nonprofit consulting projects, and involvement in the nine business centers and initiatives. Career preparation is of the highest importance. McDonough provides specific career offices that focus on each area of study, which include the Undergraduate Career Development Center, MBA Career Center, Executive Career Management Office, Career Resources for Alumni, and the MSF Career Center.
