Biggest Scholarships for Black and African-American Students
Top 25

With the cost of college tuition continuously on the rise with no signs of slowing down, many black and African-American students are looking for ways that they can alleviate the financial pressure placed upon them by tuition costs and student loans. For many black high school students, a college education may just seem too cost-prohibitive to even consider. As college educations become expected more and more in the workplace, these students are put between a rock and a hard place trying to decide whether to eschew a college education and potentially limit their career success, or enroll in a degree program but accrue large amounts of student debt. Fortunately, there is another option: scholarships.

Scholarships are a great way for students to get money that they can apply to their college bills. While most students think that scholarships are too hard to get and not worth the time to apply for due to their scarcity, they couldn’t be more wrong. It is estimated that $46 billion in scholarship money is made available each year to students. This is immense amounts of free money just waiting to be claimed by students. Many of these scholarships are made available to students based upon cultural heritage or ethnic background.

One of the larger categories of scholarships are scholarships made available to African-American students. This entire subset of scholarship money is solely available to African-Americans pursuing higher education. Supported by programs and institutions dedicated to helping black students gain a college education and succeed in the workforce without incurring massive amounts of student debt, these scholarship programs can be incredibly helpful. Here’s a list of the largest scholarships available to black and African-American students.
