Student Life

Students will greatly benefit from joining a business organization. There are many on-campus to choose from, such as business fraternities and honor societies, HR Club, Speaking Eagles Toastmasters, Accounting and Professional Services Club, Association for Computing Machinery, Association for Information Systems, and Marketing Club. Some of the perks of being involved in these organizations include additional scholarship opportunities, career networking programs, and invitations to alumni functions.

Competitive students can show drive by participating in competitions. Startup Weekend is a fun annual event where students are given a specific theme and have to create a product or service to present by the end of the weekend. The 2019 theme was Better Health Through Innovation. The Ideation Challenge presents students with an opportunity to help local business create a new product that will be beneficial to them. This experience allows students to network with community business leaders and frequently leads to internships. The Entrepreneur’s Perspective Series features guest speakers who can share tricks of the trade with entrepreneurial-minded students interested in starting their own business. Romain business students also compete and excel in international case study competitions. On a state-wide level, the USI business teams have taken home 1st place from the Indiana CPA Society Case Competition five times. On the national level, they have been the 1st place recipients of the Institute of Management Accountants Case Competitions five times as well.

USI has a partnership with the University of Applied Sciences in Osnabruck, Germany so that students can participate in the Summer Language School. This one-month study abroad program features company tours, social events, German language classes, and trips to Berlin and Potsdam.
