The University of Iowa’s Tippie College of Business offers an innovative, technologically-advanced, transforming business education to over 3,000 students annually. It has a deep-rooted, rich history dating back to its first business course, dealing with the political economy, which was offered in 1858. This pioneering College of Business has been AACSB-accredited since 1923. It values excellence, diversity, creativity, sustainability, relationships, leadership, responsibility, research, community involvement, and career preparedness. The College is growing and lives in several beautiful, modernized, technologically advanced buildings providing all the essentials needed for students to receive a top-notch educational experience.      

Education

Bachelor degree students can major in Accounting, Economics, Management, Finance, Business Analytics & Information Systems, or Marketing. Master degree students can pursue Business Analytics, Accountancy, Finance, or Business Administration. MBA students can study for a Professional or Executive MBA and can also travel to Hong Kong or Italy to earn an MBA. Doctoral programs include a Ph.D. in Finance, Business Analytics, Accounting, Marketing, Economics, and Management & Entrepreneurship.

Global experiences encompass both traveling to different countries and participating in international education and student groups on-campus. Study abroad trips to places like London, China, Italy, or Sydney can last two weeks to a semester-long. Global internships in places like Germany, Spain, Hong Kong, Chile, and Austria can encompass many different business interests. A great advantageous educational tool is the opportunity for students to conduct mentored research with their expert professors.  

Student Life

Honor Societies and student-led organizations can not only enhance resumes but give students an unmatched social and academic experience. Business-specific groups include the Tippie Business Honor Society, Real Estate Club, Accounting Club, American Advertising Federation, National Retail Federation, Women in Business, Greater China Business Association, Net Impact, Business Leaders in Christ, Enactus, Gamma Iota Sigma, and Tippie Students for Service.

There are many academic and experiential resources available to students. The Frank Business Communication Center provides mentors and peer advisors that help with writing papers, research tips, and presentation skills. The Pomerantz Career Center can walk alongside the entire academic path, help find internships, and best prepare them for great success in a career. Several entities exist where students can obtain hands-on, real-world experiences. The Marketing Institute is where students work with actual clients on marketing projects. The Tippie Analytics Cooperative is where students consult with clients and help solve business problems. The John Pappajohn Entrepreneurial Center is an excellent resource for startups by offering free consultations and even some money to get started. The Hawkinson Institute prepares students interested in a career in investment banking. The Vaughan Institute focuses on corporate risk management and insurance career prep.
