The AACSB-accredited Harrison College of Business and Computing at Southeast Missouri State University empowers students to be learners for life and prepares them for success. Through a superior curriculum and expert faculty, they emphasize the University’s values of learning, excellence, new knowledge, academic access, and regional service. The Donald L. Harrison College of Business and Computing is housed in Dempster Hall, an outstanding facility that fosters a deep, rich, and advanced learning environment. It is wireless, has internationally and digitally connected classrooms, a multimedia auditorium with 400 seats, numerous experiential learning labs, computer labs, conference rooms, large common areas, a café, an interactive TV classroom, an atrium, and much more.

Education

There are 15 undergraduate degree paths, including Computer Information Systems, Entrepreneurship, Healthcare Administration, Hospitality Management, Human Environmental Studies, and Marketing. For graduate students, there are three Master of Science programs in Applied Computer Science, Healthcare Management, and Management. There is also a Master of Business Administration degree with optional concentrations in Accounting, Environmental Management, Industrial Management, International Business, and Health Administration. 

Student Life

Being a part of the alumni network of almost 20,000 people is highly beneficial for graduating business students. Another excellent resource for students to connect are the 18 clubs and organizations. These include Alpha Kappa Psi, Finance & Economics Club, Global Fashion Club, Hospitality Management Student Association, and Women in Economics. The Redhawk Rumble is a Jeopardy-style competition for the College of Business and Computing students with cash prizes. Themed and Learning Communities allow business students the opportunity to live together and attend specific programs geared toward them. 

The Office of Career Services has the Career Decision-Making Model, which is a 24-hour accessible online service to assist students in degree path decisions, careers, etc. The Catapult Creative House has received recognition from AACSB International for how it demonstrates the necessary role innovation plays in today’s business economy. It cultivates entrepreneurship, creativity, and teamwork. Home to the Douglas C. Greene Center for Innovation & Entrepreneurship, the Harrison College of Business and Computing offers students a place to find support and resources to aid in their entrepreneurial endeavors. The Harrison College of Business and Computing has almost 100 different scholarships available to business students including the Donald L. Harrison Academic Achievement, Douglas & Heather Green Scholarship for Entrepreneurial Studies, and William W. Shaffer Jr. Endowed Scholarships in Business.

There are many creative spaces, including a café type space run by the Hospitality Management students. Students can participate in internships through every department in the College of Business. Companies like Nestle Purina, AutoZone, Disney World, Hyatt Regency, and Enterprise Rent A Car have participated in providing internships. There are numerous options to study abroad, whether one to two weeks long trips with a Southeast Missouri State professor or as part of the exchange program that can last a semester to a year-long.

Online Programs

The online degree options offered are the Bachelors in Business Administration; Master of Science in Healthcare Management and Technology Management; and the MBA in General Management, Health Administration, and Sports Management.
