Franklin Pierce University is a small, nonprofit, private university located in Rindge, New Hampshire. Established in 1962, Franklin Pierce University was founded by Frank S. DiPietro and named after Franklin Pierce, the 14th president of the United States and the only United States president from the state of New Hampshire. The University is made up of two colleges which are spread out across five campuses. The College at Rindge is located in Southwest New Hampshire on the University’s main Rindge campus while the College of Graduate and Professional Studies has campuses located in Lebanon, Portsmouth, Manchester, New Hampshire and Goodyear, Arizona.
Academic Programs
Franklin Pierce University is accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges and has been so since 1968. At least two dozen undergraduate majors and even more minors are offered culminating in either a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree. In addition, Franklin Pierce University offers a Master of Business Administration, Master of Education, Master of Physician Assistant Studies, Master of Science in Nursing, and Doctor of Physical Therapy as well as several Undergraduate and Graduate certification programs including Teacher Certification in elementary, secondary, and special education. Pre-Professional programs in medicine, dentistry, veterinary medicine, and law are also offered.Franklin Pierce University is grounded in the liberal arts and focuses on providing students with personal attention and high-quality instruction. Franklin Pierce University has been named one of America’s Top Colleges as well as one of the Best Online 4-Year Schools in the state of New Hampshire. Students have access to a library with more than 100,000 volumes as well as study abroad programs in at least eight locations.
Student Life
More than 2,200 students are currently enrolled at Franklin Pierce University – including more than 1,700 undergraduates –and approximately 90% of students choose to live on campus during their stay. Franklin Pierce University offers a wide variety of opportunities and activities for students and features a spectacular mountain view and Pearly Pond where students can enjoy kayaking, canoeing, and sail boating all free of charge. In addition, students enjoy access to a number of concerts, guest speakers, and other activities held throughout the year in Pierce Hall.Franklin Pierce University’s campus is ideally located in the region known as the “Currier and Ives” corner of the state, offering plenty of classic New England sightseeing and exploring opportunities. Frequent trips are arranged to take students off campus for a number of diverse activities including shopping in Providence, cave exploring, deep sea fishing, indoor parachuting and more. Students also enjoy day trips to Boston, Hartford, and Manchester which are all within easy reach, as well as New Hampshire’s famous White Mountains, Vermont’s beautiful scenery and outdoor recreation activities, or the popular Hampton Beach and seacoast.
