Between Sioux City and Sioux Falls, IA is the town of Sioux Center, home of Dordt College, a private 4-year school. The College was founded in 1955 by the Christian Reformed Church in North America as the Midwest Christian Junior College; in 1956 the name was changed to Dordt in honor of the historic 17th century Reformed Church meeting called the Synod of Dordt in the Netherlands. The spacious, 115 acre campus features the “Campus Center,” a large facility serving as the center of activity on campus. The town of Sioux Center is an agribusiness center, involved in the production of corn and soybeans. Farmland values have increased over recent years as technology has allowed for higher crop yields.
