Academic Programs

Dordt College is accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools, The Higher Learning Commission and offers Bachelor’s degrees and Master’s degrees in over 90 fields of study. Noted for Nursing, the largest programs on campus are in Business and Education. Presently there are no online degree programs available, however, the College sponsors over 2 dozen off-campus opportunities around the world under its affiliation with the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities. The College is comprised of three main Divisions: Humanities, with 9 Departments; Natural Sciences, with 9 Departments; and Social Sciences, with 5 departments. Per the Mission Statement, “As an institution of higher education committed to the Reformed Christian perspective, Dordt College equips students, alumni, and the broader community to work effectively toward Christ-centered renewal in all aspects of contemporary life. Dordt College seeks to provide a holistic learning experience in which classroom and other educational activities work hand-in-hand with every other aspect of a student’s experience.”

Student Life

There are over 1,400 undergraduate students enrolled in Dordt College, most of whom live on campus among the 11 residence halls. The College sponsors over 25 clubs and student organizations, including club sports and intramurals. For the varsity athlete, the black, white and gold Defenders, field 8 teams and participate in NAIA Division II competition. On campus, favorite annual traditions include the Purple Martin writing contest and a Concrete Canoe competition. Students embrace the Core Value of the school: “We believe that Scripture and creation reveal a sovereign God. Nothing exists without him; all things are under his control and find their goal and purpose in his glory. The creation is God’s kingdom” and willingly submit to the Code of Conduct where they pledge: to encourage student maturity by providing students with an opportunity to learn from their mistakes; to encourage student responsibility by holding students accountable for their own actions; to encourage reconciliation between community members; to enhance the educational purpose and atmosphere of the campus; and to enhance the atmosphere of safety and well-being on campus.
