Nebraska Wesleyan University is a private, coeducational institution and the top liberal arts university in the state of Nebraska. Nebraska Wesleyan University’s main campus is located in the city of Lincoln, with an additional site in Omaha. One of the greatest college towns on the Great Plain with a quarter-million residents and 40,000 college students, Lincoln is known for its low levels of unemployment, low crime, and low cost of living as well as its high diversity and friendly atmosphere. Students have access to a variety of internship opportunities as well as jobs within state government, businesses, nonprofit organizations, education and the arts, and scientific research. Established in 1887, Nebraska Wesleyan University was founded by a group of Methodists and actively maintains its affiliation with the United Methodist Church.

Academic Programs

The mission of Nebraska Wesleyan University is to be “dedicated to academic excellence in an environment of Christian concern at both its Lincoln campus and Omaha site.” The University’s vision is to be an “outstanding national liberal arts university, where the educational experience transforms each student to lead a life of learning, service, leadership, and success in a diverse world.” Nebraska Wesleyan University is accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools and has been so since 1914.

Nebraska Wesleyan University offers more than 100 majors, minors and pre-professional programs as well as a wide variety of adult undergraduate programs and graduate-level programs. The majority of its programs are offered through the University’s College of Liberal Arts and Sciences which is comprised of several divisions including the areas of Art; Biology; Business, Accounting and Economics; Chemistry; Communication Studies; Education; English; Gender Studies; Global Studies; Health and Human Performance; History; Integrative Studies; Interdisciplinary Studies; Mathematics; Modern Languages; Music; Nursing; Physics; Political Science; Psychology; Religion and Philosophy; Social Work; Sociology and Anthropology; and Theatre Arts.

Student Life

Nebraska Wesleyan University has a total enrollment figure of more than 2,000, including over 1,800 undergraduate students. Several residence halls provide plenty of student housing options with additional housing arrangements offered in Nebraska Wesleyan University’s Townhouse Village and Student Apartments. Students may also choose to participate in the University’s Theme Housing program which allows students who share a common area of interest to live together according to a particular “theme”.

Nebraska Wesleyan University recognizes more than 40 active student-led clubs and organizations, catering to a wide range of professional and personal interests. These and other campus activities and events provide opportunities for students to interact with one another outside of the classroom and develop valuable leadership skills. Students also benefit from Nebraska Wesleyan University’s thriving study abroad and service learning programs. As an NCAA Division III school, Nebraska Wesleyan University fields several varsity athletic teams which compete in the Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
