Lipscomb University, a private 4-year Christian liberal arts school, is located in the Green Hill area of Nashville, TN just south of downtown center city. The university was founded in 1891 and is affiliated with the Church of Christ. The campus is set on 75 acres with a suburban atmosphere and includes collegiate red brick contemporary architecture. The campus is centered around Bison Square and includes Allen Bell Tower, featuring a 35 bell carillon that chimes hourly. Nashville is known for the country music industry; notable alumni of Lipscomb University include country singer Dustin Lynch and Marty Roe of country music band Diamond Rio.

Academic Programs

Lipscomb University is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, Commission on Colleges and offers Bachelor’s Degrees, post-baccalaureate Certificates, Master’s Degrees and Doctorates in over 141 fields of study. The university is comprised of ten colleges: Bible & Ministry; Business; Computing & Technology; Education; Raymond B. Jones College of Engineering; Entertainment & the Arts; Leadership & Public Service; Liberal Arts & Sciences; Pharmacy & Health Sciences; Professional Studies, three schools: Nursing; Public Policy and Hazelip School of Theology and seven institutes: Ayers Institute for Teacher Learning & Innovation; Dean Institute for Corporate Governance & Integrity; Christian Spirituality; Conflict Management; Law, Justice & Society; Sustainable Practice and Nelson & Sue Andrews Institute for Civic Leadership. The largest programs on campus are in Business and Nursing. Per the Mission statement, “Lipscomb University is a private coeducational institution whose principal focus is undergraduate education in the liberal arts and sciences, combined with a number of undergraduate professional and pre-professional fields, and master’s and doctoral degree programs. Its primary mission is to integrate Christian faith and practice with academic excellence. This mission is carried out not only in the classroom but also by involvement in numerous services to the church and the larger community.”

Student Life

Over 2800 undergraduate students are enrolled in Lipscomb University, most of whom live on campus in one of 6 residence halls – from traditional dormitories to apartments. Campus organizations feature over 50 academic and professional clubs; over a dozen social clubs and club sports and intramurals. For the varsity athlete, the purple and gold Bisons field teams in 8 sports and participate in NCAA Division I-AAA competition. Lipscomb exalts the core values of Faith, Community, Knowledge, Innovation, and Service. “These are the five unshakeable pillars that make us who we are.
