Cedarville University, located in Cedarville, Ohio, is a private, co-educational Christian university, affiliated with the Baptist denomination. Established in 1887 as a Reformed Presbyterian-affiliated school, ownership of the school was transferred in 1953 when Cedarville merged with the Baptist Bible Institute of Cleveland, Ohio. Nationally recognized for its rigorous academic programs, strong graduation and retention rates, and its authentic Christian community, Cedarville has been named one of the top universities in the Midwest by multiple sources. Committed to developing the “whole person”, mind, soul, and body, Cedarville offers students a world-class education experience within a vibrant and Christ-centered learning community.

Academic Programs

Cedarville is fully accredited through the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools and offers a comprehensive academic offering at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Cedarville boasts over 100 study programs in the areas of Art, Design, and Theatre; Biblical and Theological Studies; Business Administration; Communication; Education; Engineering and Computer Science; English, Literature, and Modern Languages; History and Government; Interdisciplinary Studies; Kinesiology and Allied Health; Music and Worship; Nursing; Pharmacy; Psychology; Science and Mathematics; and Social Work. All of Cedarville’s students are required to minor in Bible, regardless of their major.

Cedarville students rank near the top in national academic competitions in business, engineering, forensics, debate, political studies, and more. A number of fully online graduate programs are offered through Cedarville, an option that provides students with maximum convenience and flexibility. Online programs include a Master of Ministry; Master of Business Administration; Master of Education; and Master of Science in Nursing.

Student Life

More than 3,500 students are enrolled at Cedarville, most of which are undergraduate students. Multiple residency halls provide accommodations for students, with apartments ranging from suite-style to single-room, hall-styled formats. A variety of student-led organizations and groups exist on campus, allowing students to connect with others who share similar passions and interests. Multiple Christian ministry organizations also thrive on Cedarville’s campus, including Global Outreach Ministries, Discipleship Ministries, HeartSong Ministries, OneVoice Gospel Choir, and the Production Services Group.

As an NCAA Division II school, sports play a large role in undergraduate student-life. A founding member of the American Mideast Conference (AMC), Cedarville sponsors approximately 14 varsity sports teams, nicknamed the “Yellow Jackets”, including baseball, men’s and women’s basketball, cross country, track and field, men’s and women’s soccer, golf, women’s softball, men’s and women’s tennis. Cedarville boasts a number of athletic facilities, including the Callan Athletic Center where the men’s and women’s basketball and women’s volleyball teams play; the Doden Field House; and the Yellow Jacket baseball field.
