Albright College, located in Reading, Pennsylvania, is a private, co-educational liberal arts institution. Established in 1856, Albright College traces its roots back to the founding of Union Seminary and holds the distinction of being Berks County’s oldest institution of higher education. The school is affiliated with the United Methodist Church and offers a nationally ranked, four-year liberal arts program. Albright College’s mission is “to inspire and educate the scholar and leader in each student, building on a strong foundation in the liberal arts and sciences and a commitment to the best of human values, fostering a commitment to a lifetime of service and learning.”

Academic Programs

Albright College is accredited through the Middle States Commission on Higher Education and has been so since 1926. Albright College offers an interdisciplinary curriculum that encourages the combining of majors with more than 150 different possible combinations. Albright College’s strengths lie primarily in the arts, natural sciences and business; available degrees include a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Science at the undergraduate level and a Master of Education. Albright College has been ranked one of the best colleges in the northeast as well as one of the top 25 schools for the arts.

Albright College places a strong emphasis on providing students with hands-on learning opportunities, including research with faculty members, study abroad experiences, internships, cultural experiences and more. Albright College’s small class and lab sizes give each student the opportunity to participate and strong emphasis is placed on learning both in and outside of the traditional classroom.

Student Life

Nearly 2,500 students are enrolled at Albright College, the majority of which are undergraduates. Albright College features an unusually diverse student body, with an ethnic/racial diversity percentage of over 35% – a number that is atypically high among liberal arts colleges. Approximately 3% of Albright College’s students are internationals with students hailing from nearly 20 foreign nations and more than 25 states. As a residential school, Albright College offers traditional residence hall housing to students. A number of student clubs and organizations are registered on campus, catering to a wide range of interests including the arts, environment, gaming, religion, culture, media, fashion, sports, the outdoors, community service, Greek life, and more.

Albright College is conveniently located just an hour outside of Philadelphia, two hours from Baltimore, and approximately three hours away from both New York City and Washington D.C., providing students with plenty of opportunities for day trips to any one of these thriving metropolises. The city of Reading too offers students plenty of opportunities for cultural, sports, and other recreational activities. The fifth largest city in Pennsylvania, students can enjoy all of the dining, shopping, arts and entertainment the city of approximately 90,000 has to offer.
