Academic Programs

Abilene Christian University is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, Commission on Colleges and offers Bachelor’s degrees, post-baccalaureate Certificates, Master’s degrees, post-master’s Certificates and Doctorates in over 50 majors. Presently, only post-graduate degree and certificate programs are available online. Noted for Theology, Healthcare, Music and Teacher Education, the largest programs on campus are in Business and Healthcare fields. The University also supports a robust study abroad program and short-term Missions during Spring Break each year. The University is comprised of 5 colleges: College of Business Administration, College of Arts and Sciences, College of Education and Human Services, College of Biblical Studies, College of Graduate and Professional Studies. Per the Mission Statement, “Our mission is to educate students for Christian service and leadership throughout the world. We do so by providing a Christian environment in which we foster academic excellence through progressive education, real-world learning opportunities, and faculty-guided research. Along with on-campus learning environments such as the Maker Lab and the Learning Studio, we also provide practical application opportunities and study abroad programs in several countries.”

Student Life

There are over 3,700 undergraduate students enrolled in Abilene Christian University, most of whom live on campus among the 13 residence halls and apartments. The University sponsors over 100 clubs and organizations including “Social Clubs” in lieu of Greek fraternities and sororities. Club sports and intramurals are also available. For the varsity athlete, the purple and white Wildcats, led by Willie the Wildcat, field teams in 9 sports and participate in NCAA Division I-AA competition. Campus traditions include ‘Summit,’ a lecture gathering on Biblical themes and ‘Sing Song’ which is an a cappella competition held each winter. The University’s stated goals include: Producing leaders who think critically, globally and missionally; Build distinctive and innovative programs; Deliver a unique, Christ-centered experience that draws students into community; and Expand ACU’s Christian influence and educational reach nationally and internationally. In accordance with these goals is the underlying idea of the benefit of “overall development of our students, including physical health, along with spiritual and intellectual development.”
