The University of Maine at Presque Isle expanded their curriculum delivery to include an online format to allow busy adult students the opportunity to obtain a degree without the need of campus attendance. The programs are identical in content, quality and accreditation and give students the schedule freedom to complete the program on their terms. A ‘how it works’ page explains the access through the school’s intranet to the Blackboard delivery system by way of the library website. Help and information links are available throughout the process. Degree programs offered completely online include english, history and psychology; each program details requirements, schedule and outcomes on their separate webpages. Online content delivery still aligns with the university’s disposition toward personalized learning; distance does not mean disconnected and UMPI fosters a strong sense of community with all students.
