Western Michigan University’s Haworth College of Business ignites a passion in students that extends into their careers. Haworth is recognized by The Princeton Review as a leading business school in the nation, and WMU is ranked among the most elite universities in the nation by U.S. News and World Report. Every single student receives a mentor who is dedicated to ensuring they are successful, and 93% of students complete real-world projects. The Carnegie Foundation classifies WMU as a high research university, and annually more than $25 million in research grants is awarded to the university. WMU also focuses on creating a sustainable university and is the first in the state to receive the prestigious Green Seal certification. The dual AACSB accredited Haworth COB provides over $700,000 in business scholarships each school year. These scholarships help create bright futures for business leaders, with 94% of Haworth graduates happily employed within three months of completing their degree.
Education
Undergraduate students can choose from among 16 programs: Accountancy, Advertising and Promotion, Business Analytics, Business Law, Computer Information Systems, Digital Marketing and eCommerce, Economics, Entrepreneurship, Finance, Food and Consumer Package Goods Marketing, Human Resource Management, Integrated Supply Management, Leadership and Business Strategy, Marketing, Personal Financial Planning, and Sales and Business Marketing. Sales students have a state-of-the-art lab to utilize and learn from faculty with executive-level sales experience. The sales program has been consistently recognized as a top program in the country since 2007 by the Sales Education Foundation. The ISM program is a highly competitive program, ranked nationally by several publications. Students in this program have access to hands-on-learning through the Center for Integrated Supply Management, established in 2014.
Graduate students have the opportunity to earn a Master of Accountancy or MBA degree. Joint JD/MBA and Doctor of Medicine/MBA options are also available. According to MBA student surveys, 100% of students say they feel prepared for their careers, and their professors care. Students have the flexibility to choose any three electives they wish. By enrolling in three electives from the same area, students can earn a concentration in Aviation, Computer Information Systems, Finance, Management, or Marketing. Classes are offered at the Kalamazoo or Grand Rapids campus, as well as some hybrid and online courses.
Student Life
Haworth is composed of approximately 3,500 undergraduate students and 500 graduate students. Students have described the short-term study abroad programs as life-changing. Some of the destinations available include Australia, the Dominican Republic, Germany, India, Portugal, and Thailand. Semester-long programs are offered in Australia, the Dominican Republic, Germany, Italy, Japan, the Netherlands, Norway, and Spain. International internships are also available. Students can interact with entrepreneurs through the LaunchPad, as they learn about starting their own business. The Business Influencer’s Organization is another way for students to connect with business professionals. Some of the other student organizations include the Financial Services Club, the Student Leadership Advisory Board, and Sunseeker Solar Car Project.
Online Programs
The MS in Information Security is offered fully online. Classes for this 30-credit hour program are conducted in accelerated 7.5-week sessions.
