Education

The Business & Economics department provides outstanding and affordable undergraduate degree programs in a large variety of fields. The Bachelors in Interdisciplinary Studies allows students to create their own major to personalize their educational path. Other bachelors degrees are in Business Administration, Finance, International Business, Marketing, Professional Studies, Accounting, Agribusiness, Economics, Human Resource Management, Management, Office Administration, and Public Accounting. The BBA degree also offers concentrations in every one of these areas of study. Business minors are in Economics, International Studies, Business Administration, Interdisciplinary Studies, and Management Information Systems.

It’s an incredible educational experience and life adventure for business students to participate in a study abroad trip. The opportunity allows for personal growth, course credit, self-discovery, cultural competence, and resume enhancement. Wayne State takes students to Ecuador, Costa Rica, and Greece. The Gilman and Susan T. Buffett Scholarships are a couple of study abroad scholarship options.

Along with the affordable tuition, Wayne State works hard to provide millions of dollars in scholarship assistance to advance their education. Business students can apply for the Leadership Award, Neihardt Scholars Program, Nebraska Access Scholarship Program, and Northeast Nebraska Growing Together Cooperative Education Scholarship.

Student Life

The life of a student encompasses so much more than just in-class academic pursuits. Through peer tutoring and mentorship, highly encouraged internships that provide real-world experience, student organizations, and service-learning programs, students are well prepared to impress employers and lead organizations. Several of the student groups are nationally recognized for excellence in service and include Delta Sigma Pi, Pi Omega Pi, Phi Beta Lambda, Sigma Beta Delta, and the Society for Human Resource Management.

Service-Learning Programs have also received national recognition for their commitment and involvement in community service. Business students get to apply what they have learned and build professional skills while positively impacting the community. There are two types of programs: Academic Service-Learning and Co-Curricular Service-Learning. Faculty designed Academic programs involve specific things learned in the coursework combined with serving the community. The Co-curricular programs help meet the community’s needs but are not designed around a specific major or individual classes.

Online Programs

For even more affordability, convenience, and flexibility, business students can obtain the same high-quality education through online degree programs. Undergraduates have fully online bachelors and BBA concentrations in both Human Resource Management and Management. Graduates can pursue an entirely online Masters in Business Administration.
