The College of Business at the University of West Florida is preparing a competent group of business leaders by providing a blend of academic studies with practical hands-on learning. This AACSB accredited business school is comprised of four departments; Accounting and Finance, Global Hospitality and Tourism Management, Management and MIS, and Marketing, Supply Chain Logistics, and Economics. The Accounting Department has been recognized multiple time by the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy for its high first-time pass rates on the CPA exam. UWF has also been in the spotlight for offering affordable education on Washington Monthly’s 2016 “Best Bang for the Buck-Southeast” and “National Universities” rankings. Additionally, the Princeton Review designates UWF as a “Best Southeastern College.”

Education

The Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree is AACSB accredited and include options in Accounting, Finance, Revenue Management and Predictive Analysis, General Business, Management with Human Resource Management or Management, Management Information Systems, Economics, Marketing, and Supply Chain Management. A Bachelor of Arts degree is also offered in Economics, and a Bachelor of Science Julian & Kim MacQueen Guest Experience degree is available. The Julian & Kim MacQueen degree is a unique hospitality management program, and include hands-on learning experiences through various Florida vacation resorts.

Graduate students can pursue a Master of Accountancy or Master of Business Administration. MAcc students can specialize in Professional Accountancy or Taxation. This 30-credit hour program prepares students to pass the CPA exam. Students will progress through the MBA program by taking two courses per semester with a cohort, and graduate in two years. Students can select an emphasis in General Business, Accounting, Business Analytics, Entrepreneurship, Hospitality and Tourism Leadership, Human Resources Management, Information Security Management, or Supply Chain Logistics Management. All MBA students will gain a solid foundation in Financial Accounting, Economics, Finance, Marketing, Management, and Management Information Systems. Students will also submit an MBA Portfolio showcasing their proficiencies.

Student Life

Undergraduate students can compete in the Pensacola Pitch competition, which awards $20,000 in prizes, and graduate students can compete in the Business Case Competition for $10,000 worth of prizes. Students are also encouraged to complete an internship during their senior year or participate in the International Exchange Program with a partner university. Mentorship programs help guide students through special events like the Women in Leadership Conference. Graduate students can enhance their experience by gaining work experience through Graduate assistantship or travel opportunities. Graduate assistants are assigned teaching or research assignments by faculty members and will receive a partial tuition waiver. Study abroad is made possible through an allocated budget of $35,000 per year for the graduate department.

Online Programs

The Master of Business Administration and the Master of Accountancy are offered online. Online students are provided with a wide range of experiential learning experiences, such as virtual field trips and interactions with global corporations.

Graduate certificates can also be completed online in Business Analytics, Business Foundations, Entrepreneurship, Hospitality and Tourism Leadership, Human Resources Management, Information Security Management, and Supply Chain Logistics Management.
