At the University of the Southwest, technology and textbooks are included for the MBA and DBA programs. Students can complete their Master’s of Business Administration for less than $22,000. All extra fees and a laptop are covered by tuition. The University holds regional accreditation through the Higher Learning Commission. With many distance learning options, they were recently listed among the Top Online Education Programs and Top Online Business Programs in the nation. In 2020 their online MBA will offer two additional specializations in Data Analytics and Business Intelligence or Project Management.

Education

The University of the Southwest’s College of Business Administration gives students the opportunity to earn a bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral degree in business. The Bachelor’s of Business Administration includes over 10 high-interest majors. A few of the available options are E-Commerce, Non-Profit Management, Sport Management, Energy Management, and Economics. All of the BBA’s follow a balanced core curriculum with courses like Creating a Business Plan, Principles of Marketing, and Business Law. The Master’s of Business Administration program is available online and has 12 specializations ranging from Accounting to Healthcare Administration. Students interested in earning their doctorate can earn their degree as well through the 100% online program with concentrations in Leadership and Organizational Development, Self-Design, and Strategy and Innovation.

Student Life

The University of the Southwest seeks to give students a well rounded educational experience, which means they offer support, services, and campus activities geared towards both academics and interpersonal growth. Campus ministries, service-learning projects, and intramural sports are just a few of the ways for students to get involved. Service-learning projects allow participants to mentor local youth, clean up the environment both on and off-campus, and even hold food or clothing drives to help the needy. Organizations such as Enactus, Alpha Chi Honor’s Society, and the Student Government Association all provide a like-minded community for business students. The Office of Career and Academic Services makes the transition from home to school and school to the workforce easier. They provide valuable assistance in areas like study skills, choosing a major, interviewing skills, or applying to grad school.

Online Programs

Both the Master’s of Business Administration and Doctor of Business Administration programs at USW are delivered online. Undergraduate work in business is not required, and there are no prerequisite courses to complete. Generally, the MBA is finished within one year. The DBA is three years long, completed in eight-week terms, and does not require and residencies. Those interested in applying to the Doctoral program must have a conferred master’s degree, 3.0 GPA or higher, three or more years of professional work experience, an admissions essay, a current resume, and two letters of reference.
