The University of Texas Permian Basin is ranked 35th in Top Public Schools by U.S. News and World Report. Approximately 1,600 students are enrolled annually in the highly regarded College of Business. All degrees offered through the COB are AACSB accredited. Alumni remain active through social events, networking, and forming partnerships with their place of employment and current business students.

Education

The business degrees offered through the College of Business are designed to prepare students to take on challenges in the competitive business industry. Students who earn a bachelor’s degree in Accounting will fulfill the 150-hour requirement to sit for the Certified Public Accountant exam. Bachelor’s degrees are also offered in Economics, Finance, Industrial Technology, Management, and Marketing. The economy of the Permian Basin region relies heavily on petroleum production, and students in the Industrial Technology program can enhance their resume by pursuing the Petroleum Technology track. Undergraduate students can also earn a certificate in Healthcare Management.

Graduate students can further their career by earning a Master’s of Professional Accountancy or Master’s of Business Administration. MBA students can complete the general business program or select an emphasis in Finance or Accounting. Graduate students can earn an additional certificate in Energy Business. Students can determine the pace that is right for them and can complete the program in as few as 12 months or take up to eight years. Competitive graduate assistantships and graduate teaching assistantships are also available.

Student Life

Students who participate in organizations on-campus are more likely to be successful in their post-graduation employment search. Business organizations offered include the Accounting Association, Enactus- Entrepreneurship, Falcon Financials, the Marketing Experience, Beta Gamma Sigma honor society, and the Economics Association. Being invited by the Dean of the College of Business to participate in the COB Student Advisory Council is a prestigious honor given out each year. Students can gain practical work experience through the internship program. The Roden Entrepreneurial Development Center is a place for students to test-drive their new business skills by working on real-world projects that support current students, alumni, and local businesses.

Online Programs

U.S. News and World Report recognizes the online MBA among the top distance learning programs in the nation. The online MBA can be completed entirely online in the same time frame as the on-campus MBA. Classes are offered in accelerated eight-week sessions. This program is an exceptional value, with tuition rates under $10,000. Students receive personalized attention from dedicated professors, and 99% reported professors provided prompt feedback according to the National Survey of Student Engagement. This program offers six start dates per year, and students can take up to two classes prior to submitting GMAT scores, so there’s no need to delay your education.
