The University of South Alabama spans 1,200 tree-lined acres. USA’s vision “is to foster an environment that couples engaging learning experiences with high-level research, enabling our faculty and students to be leaders in their disciplines.” Because of the University’s focus on quality research, students learn through very hands-on methods. They are encouraged to participate in service-learning, group projects, and study abroad trips to places like Panama, Hawaii, Ghana, and more. Exchange programs are also available and allow students to pay South’s tuition rate while studying at their choice of universities across the globe.
Education
Bachelor’s of Science in Business Administration degrees are available through the Mitchell College of Business with majors in Accounting, Economics & Finance, General Business, Marketing & Quantitative Management, International Business, and Management. A Master’s of Business Administration or Master’s of Accounting can be earned by those who choose to continue their studies. The Mitchell MBA is designed to meet the needs of students both with and without an undergraduate degree in business. The program is 30 credit hours with one or two-year track options. Students may choose to concentrate in Healthcare Leadership, which includes courses like Change Management, Strategic Medical Management, Healthcare Economics, and Revenue Cycle Management.
Student Life
Funding a college education can be stressful. In recent years, the USA has granted more than 22 million dollars in scholarships. Business students can take advantage of this through several programs and business-specific opportunities. There are even scholarships for Mitchell students who plan to study abroad.
A membership to the campus recreation center is included with tuition fees. Students can swim in either the indoor or outdoor pool, play water basketball, or even earn an extra income by being a campus lifeguard. Affordable outdoor adventure excursions give students an opportunity to enjoy the outdoors and travel to places like the Conecuh National Forest, Providence Canyon, and Falling Waters State Park. Camping gear, water play gear, kitchen gear, mountain bikes can also be rented from the University for a small fee.
Online Programs
There are several accredited online business degree options for the University of South Alabama Students. At the undergraduate level, the General Business BSBA is an online program designed for students who have completed freshman and sophomore level degree requirements and wish to finish their junior and senior courses in a distance format. Students will stay on track and finish the remainder of their degree in two years or five semesters.
Master’s degrees can be completed online in either Accounting or Sports Management. The online MS in Sports Management offers students an exciting head start for careers in the professional leagues, community sports programs, health and fitness competitions, or sports sales.
