The Arthur J. Kania School of Management of the University of Scranton has been recognized time and time again for offering the best business programs in the nation. In its 2019 edition, U.S. News and World Report ranked the Entrepreneurship program 31st, the Finance program 36th, and the Accounting program 37th. Additionally, the Princeton Review ranked the MBA program 15th in the nation. The Kania School of Management was also mentioned on the Best Business Schools list. The school is comprised of four departments in Accounting, Economics and Finance, Management, Marketing, and Entrepreneurship, and Operations and Information Management. This nationally recognized business school holds prestigious AACSB accreditation. The Kania School of Management also features eight Bloomberg terminals and the Alperin Financial Center, a financial simulation lab.
Education
Students who plan to enter into the business field can earn an undergraduate degree in Accounting, Economics, Finance, International Business, Marketing, Management, Business Administration, Entrepreneurship, Operations Management, and Electronic Commerce. Many of these programs can also be earned simultaneously with a master’s degree in just five years. Professionals working towards career advancement can earn a master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a Master’s of Business Administration. MBA students can also select a focus area in Accounting, Business Analytics, Finance, Healthcare Management, International Business, Management Information Systems, Marketing, or Operations Management. Kania also offers a Doctorate of Business Administration, with an optional accounting concentration. DBA students will be required to attend two to four on-campus residencies per semester. The Executive in Residence Program brings prominent business leaders to campus each semester to visit classes and meet with students during their stay.
Student Life
The Kania Center for Practical Learning helps students prepare for life beyond graduation. Students can participate in the Student Internship Program and the Professional Development Passport Program. Previous internship sites have included Big 4 Accounting Firms, the Federal Reserve Board, Merrill Lynch, and ESPN. On-campus students are required to complete the Passport Program, which consists of eight professional development modules such as attending a resume workshop, career expo, and LinkedIn seminar. The Career Coaches program pairs students with alumni in a unique one-on-one mentorship program. The alumni provide internship and career guidance to their mentee. There are also many organizations for business students to get involved in such as the Advertising Club, Business Club, International Business Club, Marketing Society, Society of Accounting Students, and Society for Human Resources Management.
Online Programs
The MBA is also offered in a convenient online format, accessible to students anywhere in the world 24/7. The online MBA has been deemed a Top 100 Best Online MBA program by U.S. News and World Report, as well as among the Top 25 Value Schools. Students in this program can still select from among the same focus areas as on-campus students. Other online graduate programs offered through the Kania School of Management include a Master of Accountancy and a Master of Finance.
