It is not only concerned with developing influential leaders but “producing leaders with values.” Every aspect of the educational process aspires toward excellence, respect, integrity, and learning how to execute teamwork successfully. A diverse group of faculty is equipped with a depth of experience and talent that prepares students to compete and find success in all levels of business, from entrepreneurial start-ups to Fortune 500 executives.

To help keep college affordable, the School of Business & Technology has access to many different scholarships like the Alumni Association Scholarship. There are also grants, work-study opportunities, and “workships” that allow students to receive money towards tuition in exchange for work hours. Financial assistance through scholarships helps students take their education across borders and seas. Students can study business in Madrid, Spain; Seoul, South Korea; Gold Coast, Australia; or London, England. They can also study international business and economics in Prague, Czech Republic.

Student Life

Business students can experience life and experience learning in so many different ways. Student organizations include Marketing Hawks, the National Association of Black Accountants, SIMPLY SIFE Inc. (Students in Free Enterprise Club), National Students Business League, Student Advisory Board, Eta Rho Mu, and Sports Marketing Association. Students compete in the Federal Reserve Challenge, attend career and professional development workshops, and meet with recruiters, executives, and professionals on campus. They also attend conferences like the annual Maryland Business Education Association conference, put on fundraisers, and take part in faculty research projects. Some get the opportunity to spend a week at Harvard Business School for the Summer Venture in Management program.

The reputation of the business and hospitality programs spark the interest of many Fortune 500 companies that provide incredible internships and job opportunities for students. Companies include IBM, Walmart, Marriott Hotels, Walt Disney Company, Bank of America, KPMB, and Red Lobster Restaurants. Hospitality students experience learning through several different events like the Formal Gala, Dinner Theater, Spring Luncheon Series, and the Carnival. The Henson Center is a fantastic facility that provides learning space for these students through labs, a demonstration kitchen, exhibition space, dining facilities, and seminar rooms.

The Student Outreach & Leadership program provides students with opportunities to serve others while experiencing learning. It offers outreach programs for the local community. Students get to work alongside faculty and staff and use their knowledge and abilities to make the Shore and the surrounding area a better place.
