The ACBSP-accredited School of Business & Management at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff focuses on providing academically excellent, relevant, and productive undergraduate business degree programs. The historically-black University, tracing its beginning back to 1890, has over a century of education experience. It attracts passionate and dedicated professors and staff with a wealth of knowledge and expertise to offer every student. They, along with the School, focus on student success. Through high-quality programs, students learn to respect others, be honorable, live life with integrity in all areas, and embrace and learn from diverse cultures and ideas.
Education
The School of Business & Management equips future business leaders with two degree programs. Within the broad-based curriculum, students acquire an understanding of relevant business principles mixed with the humanities and sciences. Students can obtain a Bachelors degree in Business Administration or Accounting. To go deeper into a specific area of study, those pursuing a Business Administration degree can concentrate in Marketing, Economics, Business Technology Education, Management, or Finance.
First-year business students have access to a wide variety of scholarships. University scholarships include the Chancellor’s Scholarship, Diversity Scholarship, Golden Lion Scholarship, and the Leadership Scholarship. Transfer students can apply for the Transfer Student Scholarship and The Pride Transfer Scholarship.
There is a plethora of study abroad opportunities to pursue within and outside of the University. Within the University, the Office of International Programs and Studies is devoted to providing a wealth of international opportunities for study and internship and committed to increasing the University’s study abroad participation. Business students can take advantage of the agreement the Chinese government has made with several HBCU (Historically Black Colleges and Universities), including UAPB, to foster study abroad opportunities for their students in China. The China Scholarship Network also provides full-tuition scholarships for qualifying students.
Student Life
The Office of Student Involvement & Leadership provides a tremendous amount of activities, student organizations, and events that enhance leadership training, hands-on learning experiences, engagement, and professional development for business students. Some of the events include a lecture speaker series, leadership retreats, social justice activities, and men’s and women’s programs. Student organizations that interest business students are the Student Government Association, Accounting Club, ENACTUS, Investment Club, Marketing Club, and the Delta Mu Delta Honor Society. These groups help connect students with the professional business world, provide leadership growth and community service opportunities.
Every business student has an incredible career support team through the Career Services Office. It provides online resources like Handshake, which can help students find jobs, look for and pursue internships and co-ops, and even create their resume. The Office helps teach students how to dress professionally, explore potential career paths, have a successful interview, and host career and job fairs.
