The campus has a diverse student body and is designated as a Military Friendly School and an Adult Learning Focused Institution of Higher Education. The College of Business received ACBSP accreditation in 2018. The average class through the COB has just 14 students to ensure students receive personalized attention and mentorship from professors. Experiential learning opportunities are embedded in all classes, so employers who hire Tusculum graduates know they are receiving talented, experienced employees.
Education
The courses have been restructured, so every course is now in a six-credit hour format. The Bachelor of Science in Business Administration is a 60-credit hour program consisting of 48 hours of fundamental business administration courses and 12 hours of business electives. Elective choices include Financial Analysis, Management, Human Resources Management, and Marketing. This degree can be completed in as few as 24 months. Another excellent option for undergraduate students is the Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration degree. Students can select a concentration in Accounting, Economics, Management, Entrepreneurship, Information Technology, or Marketing. Upon completing the courses for their concentration, students may select a second area to minor in. An additional area available as a minor is Tax. This minor covers all aspects of Federal Income Tax and gives students practical experience through offering volunteer federal income tax preparation. The bachelors programs offer competitive tuition rates and are a wise investment. In an alumni survey, 95% of graduates stated their Tusculum undergraduate education prepared them for their current career or graduate studies.
The Pioneer Master of Business Administration is 30-credit hours and takes one year to complete. All courses in this program are six-credit hour modules, as well. This is the only accredited MBA that consists of merely five courses. The five courses are Managerial Accounting and Decision Making, Managerial Economics and Finance, Management and Marketing, Law, Ethics, and Strategy, and a Comprehensive Business Project. This is a very economical masters degree, with a very competitive tuition.
Student Life
Students are encouraged to complete an internship within their concentration. Many students find their internship opens doors for future careers. The Center for Economic Development and Entrepreneurship provides local businesses with student support, serving as a win-win for the community and business students. The Business Club also offers students the opportunity to learn more about business careers and participate in social activities. Study abroad programs are available to broaden students’ global business perspectives. Students also participate in research and service projects.
Online Programs
The Bachelor of Business Administration and the Master of Business Administration are offered fully online, so students can access courses from the convenience of their home, office, or wherever life may take them. These programs are perfect for working adults who are interested in expanding their business knowledge, but who have time or location restraints that would make it difficult to attend traditional courses. This program is taught by the same highly qualified professors as the on-campus courses.
