Triton College’s School of Business and Technology offers a premier education in the greater Chicago area. The business programs are highly recognized by employers due to their ACBSP accreditation. Triton’s graduates’ salaries are among the highest in Illinois according to 2016 data from Payscale.com. Students enrolled in this two-year college can further increase their earnings by continuing their education on-campus through partnerships with Benedictine University, Dominican University, and Southern Illinois University. Tuition rates are on a sliding scale that is based on household income, making Triton accessible for students from all economic backgrounds.

Education

Earning a certificate is a cost-effective way of boosting your resume. The SoB offers the following certificates: Accounting Assistant, Bookkeeping, Business Management, Business Support Specialist, Entrepreneurship, Financial Services, Human Resource Management, and Medical Administrative Assistant. Certificates range from 17 to 31-credit hours and can be completed in two semesters. Students who earned a bachelor’s degree in another field can prepare for a higher-paying recession-proof career by earning the Certified Public Accountant Pathways Advanced Certificate. This program satisfies the requirement to sit for the CPA exam. 

Associate degrees are also available in Accounting and Business Administration, Business Management, Hospitality Industry Administration, and Human Resource Management. Students pursuing a hospitality degree can specialize in Baking and Pastry, Culinary Arts, Hotel/ Motel Management, or Restaurant Management. These degrees allow students to take electives such as Principles of Marketing, Sales Force Management, and Money, Credit, and Banking. The certificates and programs offered through the SoB teach students the critical skills needed to succeed in an executive office environment. Classes are offered in a variety of flexible and accessible formats, including evenings, weekend courses, and the Fast Track program, where classes are condensed to seven-week sessions.

Student Life

SoB students can enrich their college experience by participating in the Accounting Club. Members will enjoy field trips to the accounting and auditing departments of local businesses. Career Services provides personalized job coaching sessions to help students with resume development, mock interview skills, or to explore future options through career assessment tools. They also host career fairs and other recruitment events throughout the school year to assist students seeking a part-time job, internship, or a post-graduation position. 

Freshmen are encouraged to participate in the First-Year Experience, which features workshops on financial literacy, time management, and effective study strategies. Students who complete this program are more likely to graduate from college and will receive a free tuition voucher good for a three-credit-hour class.

Online Programs

An Associate’s degree in Human Resources Management is offered 100% online. Students will interact with classmates through discussion boards and chat rooms. Many free self-paced online courses are offered to help students enhance their resume, such as Small Business Marketing on a Shoestring, Fundamentals of Supervision and Management, and Creating WordPress Websites. Career Services also offers several workshops, including Personal Ethics in the Workplace, The Art of Virtual Interviewing, and Creating a Resume. After brushing up on these skills, students will be ready to apply for their next job through the online job board.
