The Citadel is a military college with a rich history dating back to 1842. Over 2,000 undergraduate students make up the South Carolina Corps of Cadets. There are also around 1,000 students who attend the Graduate College. Programs offered are open to civilians and can be completed online and on-campus with options at the graduate level, professional degrees, as well as several undergraduate degrees. The Citadel was recently recognized for the ninth consecutive year as the #1 Public College in the South for university’s granting up to a master’s degree by U.S. News and World Report. This level of excellence transcends to the business programs offered through the Tommy and Victoria Baker School of Business. The college is also acknowledged by U.S. News and World Report in 2020 for Best College Business Programs.

Education

Students of the Baker School of Business will receive an AACSB accredited business education with a unique military background and focus on character and leadership development. Degree programs follow a mission “to educate and develop leaders of principle to serve a global community.” The values that are seen throughout all aspects of the curriculum include “integrity, fairness, and concern for others in all of our relationships; continuous pursuit and dissemination of knowledge to promote enlightened changes in society, and continuous improvement in all we do.” Degrees are offered for Corps of Cadet members as well as civilians and cover a wide variety of areas of study such as MBA, undergraduate majors in Accounting, Finance, Supply Chain, and General Management. Within the General Management program, there are five additional Professional Pathways in Management & Entrepreneurship, Economics, or Professional Selling.

Student Life

Being a student at The Citadel is truly a one of a kind experience, whether you are involved as a member of the Corps of Cadets or as a civilian. There are numerous annual events such as Homecoming, Corps Day, Parent’s Weekend, Leadership Day, and Leadership Symposium. The Kraus Center for Leadership and Ethics offers many resources and programs to help students reach their personal and academic goals. According to their website, “The Krause Center creates and advances cadet-focused leadership programs, ethics education, and community engagement to develop principled leaders.”

Online Programs

The online MBA at The Citadel is designed with busy working professionals and active military members in mind. The program can be completed in a 100% distance format or during evening classes. Students will develop essential management skills, improve critical thinking and ethical decision-making skills, and build a network of peers and business partnerships as they take their education to the next level. Elective courses for this MBA can be specialized in the areas of Entrepreneurship, Supply Chain, or Finance. Dual degrees are available in MBA/PharmD, MBA/MD, and MBA/TPM.
