The AACSB-accredited College of Business at Texas A&M University-Commerce “produces career-ready business professionals who add value to the global business environment.” They accomplish this through effective instruction from expert faculty, participatory learning, and collaborating with the surrounding business community. The College of Business has been providing education since 1920.
Education
Today, under the Bachelor of Business Administration, students can major in Accounting, Business Analytics, Finance, General Business, Management, or Marketing. On the other hand, the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration requires Interdisciplinary Studies Minor to accompany the degree. For graduate students, there is the Master of Science in Accounting or Business Analytics; Masters in Finance, Management, or Marketing; and a Masters in Business Administration (MBA). Students who wish to minor in an area of business have these options: Cybersecurity, Digital Marketing, Economics, Entrepreneurship, Finance, Financial Planning, Healthcare Administration, International Business, Marketing, and Marketing Analytics.
Student Life
As students navigate their degree path, they greatly benefit from the guidance of the Advising and Student Support Office. Career Services assists students with career development, connecting to student societies, career-building seminars, hands-on experiences, and recruitment resources. Many internships are available to students in any area of business they study. The Distinction in Professional Development is an interactive program that teaches students the skills and knowledge to prepare for professional presentations, networking, interviews, job searches, perfecting their resume, and how to take advantage of social media.
Another great resource offered by the College of Business is the Specialized Business Skills Training. These are courses and seminars that foster excellence and preparedness in the students. Seminar training is on topics like revenue forecasting, effective communication, and workforce fundamentals. They also feature a course for the farmers of the 21st century, where farmers receive training in the financing, technology, USDA resources, risk management, and business decisions and strategies that affect their farming business. Another course is the USDA Rural Economic Development Loan Program, which guides potential recipients through the loan process. This course is available because of a grant that was given to the College of Business from the USDA Rural Development Agency to help advocate for rural economic advancement.
Future entrepreneurs can attend the Emerging Entrepreneurship Training Seminar to enhance their understanding of the process of business planning, how to do market research, and how to research opportunities to build upon their ideas. Part of the way this college reaches out to the community is by providing the Center for Business Excellence. This center offers services that are customizable for companies to utilize, including resources, training, and consultations.
Online Programs
Since 1995, the College of Business could offer online graduate degrees for those who are unable to attend class in person due to professional or life situations. Every Masters degree is available 100% online, full-time on campus, or the blended option of both.
