Education

The SoB’s highly acclaimed Bachelor of Science degree is offered in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, and Marketing. The Business Administration program features a specialization in General Business or Management. Five-year joint B.S./M.S. degrees are also available for students wishing to earn a degree in Accounting or Accounting/Taxation. Faculty are professionals in their field who hold CPA, CMA, CFE, and PFS certifications.

Graduate students can earn a Master of Science in Accounting, Forensic Accounting, or Taxation. Classes are held in the evenings from 5:30-10:30 PM to accommodate the needs of working students. Students with a bachelor’s degree in Accounting can typically complete the program within one year, but those from a non-accounting background generally take two years to graduate. These programs meet the requirements to become a licensed CPA in the state of New York.

Student Life

Students can create lasting memories by getting involved in the many activities offered through the SoB Business organizations include the Accounting Society, Business Club, or the Professional Students Organization. Students exhibiting leadership traits will be invited to join the Omicron Delta Kappa Leadership Honor Society.

The Accounting Networking Reception is held each fall, and the Business Networking Reception is an annual spring event. Multiple workshops are held in the months leading up to these events, covering resume writing, networking, interviewing, and presentation skills. Students are required to complete a minimum of two events to earn eligibility to attend all future receptions. Prior to the receptions, students have the opportunity to send their resumes to accounting firms, and these firms will schedule on-the-spot interviews with the most qualified applicants. A Financial Literacy Fair is also held each spring and is open to all students. An Executive-in-Residence team is available to meet with students during designated office hours to answer questions students may have about landing a job or getting a resume critique from an industry expert.

Online Programs

Students who are looking to advance their education without pressing the pause button on their career will benefit from the online master’s degrees. The MS in Accounting, Forensic Accounting, and Taxation can all be completed virtually. Full-time students may complete these programs in one year, and part-time students can work at a pace that fits with their other commitments. Students can have their resume reviewed through a Zoom meeting.
