
The School of Business and Liberal Arts at SUNY Canton can help students reach their goal of earning an associate’s or bachelor’s degree. With the unique ladder curriculum, students may begin by pursuing an associate’s degree. Upon completion, they may apply those credits to a bachelor’s degree. This system allows students to set attainable short-term goals without having to commit to four years. The business school holds specialized IACBE accreditation. Students who are New York residents from families with an annual salary below $125,000 qualify for free tuition through the Excelsior Scholarship. Approximately 85% of the students fall under this umbrella. Some of the recent employers of business graduates include American Red Cross, Community Bank, Lowe’s, New York State, Wal-Mart, and Ward Real Estate.
Education
With free tuition for the majority of students and small classes with an average of 17 students, it’s time to get to work on creating a brighter future by adding a degree or two to your repertoire. Students can earn an associate’s degree in Business: Accounting or Business Administration. There is no shortage of management degrees available, with bachelor’s degree options for Agribusiness Management, Early Childhood Care and Management, Esports Management, Finance, Legal Studies, Management, and Technological Communications. Several minors are available to enhance your degree, such as Accounting, Economics, Fraud Examination, and Marketing Management. Elective credits are also embedded in the curriculum, so students can supplement their degree with courses that interest them.
Business students can also earn their MS in Accountancy through an agreement with Clarkson University. Legal Studies majors can earn their bachelor’s degree and a law degree in just six years through a partnership with University at Buffalo School of Law. Students in all programs will learn to deliver a polished presentation in the boardroom, win clients through perfecting media writing techniques, and effectively lead a team of employees.
Student Life
A variety of business opportunities help students gain real-world experience, including tax preparation services through the VITA program, attend professional expos, and hands-on internships. The Investment Group is broken into teams who are given $5,000 to manage stocks. The profits acquired go towards scholarships for business students. The members present at the Annual Scholarly Activities the results from that year.
The Business Club is another popular club for students to join, which provides access to professional development. The varsity esports team has a half-million arena on-campus with access to stream competitions with other colleges. Leadership positions are available through the SGA and the College Activity Board. Students are able to earn badges based on their level of participation in activities and can track all involvement on a co-curricular transcript.
Online Programs
Students who work crazy hours, raise a family, or just want the convenience of learning on their own schedule can take classes from SUNY Canton online. Online bachelor’s degrees are offered in Management, Legal Studies, Healthcare Management, and Esports Management. The virtual platform RooLife allows online students to participate in student organizations, and Career Services hosts virtual career fairs.
