The AACSB accredits the Greehey School of Business at St. Mary’s University. The School has worked hard to transform and empower business students to lead and positively impact the world since 1923 ethically. The alumnus, Bill Greehey, is overwhelmingly generous and has donated millions of dollars to the University. His accomplishments, being one of the most successful leaders in business, motivate and inspire students to pursue excellence.

Having Catholic Marianist values grounded in faith, service, integrity, ethics, purpose, community, opportunity, and compassion, intertwined with strong business principles and professional standards, assures graduates of being prepared to enter into the marketplace confidently.

The highly qualified and dedicated team of faculty members conduct continuous research, provide innovative instruction, and can build personal relationships with students through the small class sizes. Business majors can study for a Bachelors in Business Administration degree in Accounting & Data Analytics, Finance & Risk Management, Accounting, Management with an optional track in Entrepreneurship & Innovation, Applied Management, International Business with two track options in International Marketing or International Trade Operations, and Marketing with an optional Digital Marketing track.

Undergraduates can apply for Academic Merit scholarships, the Alumni Scholarship, Greehey Scholars Program, the Marianist Leadership Program, and many other opportunities to gather financial assistance to cover the costs to earn a degree.

Graduate students can study for the Greehey MBA for Values-Driven Leaders and the MBA for Professionals with concentration options in Data Analytics, General Business, Compliance, International Business, or Health Management. Greehey also joins with the School of Law to produce the J.D./MBA dual degree in business and law.

Undergraduates have traveled to places like New Zealand, Switzerland, Australia, the Czech Republic, Poland, Singapore, and Belgium to meet with international business leaders and study global business and culture. The International Field Experience is a vital component of the MBA degree and has taken MBA students to Brazil, Germany, India, France, Mexico, the Netherlands, and South Korea.

Student Life

So many co-curricular programs, activities, and events exist to help Greehey students academically succeed and professionally develop. Student organizations like Beta Gamma Sigma, the Accounting Club, American Marketing Association, International Business Association, Delta Sigma Pi, and Enactus offer skills development, social connections, and networking opportunities.

Students can help manage the University’s $2.3 million endowment fund. They participate in and have won several case competitions, both nationally and internationally, including taking the bronze medal in the Worldwide Case Competition. Most students complete an internship during the pursuit of their degree with companies like Frost Bank, Valero Energy, and SeaWorld. MBA students can complete advanced Business Skills Labs on Saturdays. The annual Business Week event hosts workshops and lectures from leading business executives.

Greehey has Centers and Institutes that focus on entrepreneurship, innovation, social responsibility, small business, and global business, which give students opportunities to apply what they have been learning. To live out compassion and service, students complete volunteer hours in the community to help others and also travel trips to serve those in need.
