St. Catherine University is one of the oldest higher education institutions established just for female students. Today St. Catherine operates a College for Women, as well as an inclusive College for Adults and Graduate College. The School of Business is a candidate for ACBSP accreditation and offers a wide array of forward-thinking business programs to scholars aspiring to make their mark on the world. The SoB consists of four departments: Business Administration, Economics and Political Science, Organizational Leadership Department, and the Apparel, Merchandising, and Design Department. More than 60 companies recruit SoB students.

Education

Undergraduate students can pursue a bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Business-to-Business Sales, Healthcare Management, Healthcare Sales, and Marketing through the Business Administration Department. A professional Sales certificate can also be added to any degree. All students in the BA department complete an internship to gain hands-on experience through the Business Practicum course. The Economics and Political Science Department offers degrees in Economics, Financial Economics, International Business and Economics, Political Science, and Public Policy. Students interested in pursuing the business side of fashion can earn a degree in Apparel Design or Fashion Merchandising.

Graduate students can earn a Master of Business Administration degree or a Master of Arts in Organizational Leadership. Both of these degrees are offered in a hybrid format, giving students greater flexibility to manage work and school requirements. The MBA can be completed in two years, and the MAOL is a three-year program. MBA concentrations include Healthcare, General Management, and Integrated Marketing Communications. MAOL students can choose to complete an action project or a leadership thesis. Students can further customize their degree with a concentration in Ethics and Leadership, Dispute Resolution, Healthcare Leadership, Information Services and Technology, Non-profit and Public Leadership, Spirituality and Leadership, or Strategic Leadership.

Graduate students can also earn a certificate in Business Administration: Integrated Marketing Communications or Organizational Leadership. These are great options for students who already hold a master’s degree or would like to just earn some additional skills in a shorter time-span.

Student Life

Each fall, students can learn about all of the opportunities to get involved by attending the Activities Fair. Business clubs include the Economics Club, Katies Business Organization, and the Political Science Club. Students can gain valuable leadership skills and paid work experience through the Community Leaders Program. The time commitment for this program is 12 hours per week at a local non-profit organization, often related to the student’s major. Monthly professional development workshops are also another benefit of this program. Students are also civically active through the St. Kate’s Votes program. In fact, St. Catherine has earned an Elective Community Engagement Classification from the Carnegie Foundation.

Online Programs

Working adults can still find time to earn their bachelor’s degree with online options available in Business Management, Healthcare Management, and Marketing. Students can apply their learning to their current work environment and earn class credit with a stretch project by going above their normal work responsibilities. Internships are also available for students without professional work experience.
