
The Dixie L. Leavitt School of Business at Southern Utah University delivers an educational experience full of excellent teaching, hands-on learning, effective curriculum, ethical principles, and impactful community service. Education
Students at the undergraduate level can study for a Bachelors in Economics, Finance, Accounting, Management, Hospitality, or Marketing. Graduate students can work towards a Masters in Accountancy, Business Analytics, or Business Administration. There is a fast-track option to obtain a Bachelors and Masters in Accountancy in just five years. The School of Business also offers a minor in Military Science and Army ROTC Leadership courses. An Entrepreneurship & Small Business Management Certificate is available to those who want to dig deeper into this area of study.
To assist with financial needs, the university offers scholarships for first-year, transfer, international, current, and graduate students. Business-specific scholarships include The A.W. Stephenson Tribute Endowment, The Business Study Abroad Scholarship, The Dominion Energy Business Scholarship, and The Boulevard Home Furnishings/Wittwer Hospitality Endowed Scholarship. An advantageous educational opportunity to study abroad can diversify a student’s resume and impress future employers. The Office of Learning Abroad offers trips to Italy, South Korea, Morocco, Estonia, Hungary, Romania, Brazil, Costa Rica, Quebec, United Arab Emirates, and China.
Student Life
Business students can get involved on campus, build friendships, compete, and reach out to the community through clubs and organizations like Collegiate DECA, Entrepreneurship Club, SUU Investment Group, Hospitality Management Guild, Professional Accountancy Club, Professional Business Leaders, and Beta Gamma Sigma Honor Society. There is an entrepreneurial mentor in residence and the Entrepreneurship Speaker Series which both offer guidance, advice, and experience to assist students with their new ventures. The Speed Pitch Competition allows students to pitch their business ideas for evaluation and cash prizes. The State Bank of Southern Utah’s Business Executive Speaker Series brings in executives to share their first-hand knowledge and years of wisdom with business students and faculty. The Career and Professional Development Center and Business Career Services help students with finding on-campus employment, internship placement, professional clothing, resume writing, academic and career advisement, employer information sessions, developmental seminars, jobs after graduation and many career-related fairs.
Online Programs
People have such busy lives and so many responsibilities and obligations that it is sometimes impossible to attend classes in-person to obtain a degree. The School of Business offers fully online, AACSB-accredited Masters in Business Administration, Master of Accountancy, and the joint MAcc/MBA degrees. There is also the flexibility of attending classes through the hybrid method of combining the on-campus and online format.
