The AACSB-accredited College of Business at Southern University and A&M College has been educating future leaders in business since 1937. Around 150 students are taught by distinguished and published practitioners who believe in preparing every student for great success through effective teaching, dynamic research, innovative processes, and community engagement. Graduates leave with confident analytical, communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills.

Education

Undergraduates can pursue a Bachelors in Marketing, Management, Accounting, or Finance with optional concentrations in Risk Management & Insurance or Business Economics. The Masters in Business Administration degree for graduate students can be completed in the evenings to allow for flexibility in schedule for working professionals. This degree prepares students on a global scale and from a wide range of backgrounds to lead and manage all types of organizations. The MBA has elective courses that allow students to concentrate on an area of study in Entrepreneurship, Supply Chain Management, Human Resources Management, Accounting, International Business, Finance, or Marketing.

There are international immersion opportunities for undergraduates to places like Belize. MBA students can attend an optional study abroad two-week trip to an international destination to learn about multicultural business, meet global executives, and enjoy a different culture.

Students can find financial assistance through a variety of scholarship options, including the College of Business Scholarships, Graduate Scholarships, and the GreenPal Small Business Scholarship. The CoB also hosts the Gala on the Bluff Fundraiser event every year to raise scholarship money for business students.

Student Life

No matter what a student learns in class, the CoB offers students so much more knowledge to absorb outside of the classroom. Business student organizations like Pi Sigma Epsilon, the Society of Supply Chain Professionals, the Society of Human Resources Management, and the MBA Student Association provide leadership, service, and experiential learning opportunities.

Throughout the degree programs, students conduct case studies, simulations, real-world business projects, and face time with executives through the Global Leadership Speaker Series. A great way to gain direction, guidance, and insight is by connecting with an experienced industry professional through the Business Mentorship Program. Through these types of connections, students find internships and possible employment with companies like Boeing, Texas Instruments, Target, ExxonMobil, Wal-Mart, and IBM.

Students can read about or write papers for the College of Business’ E-Journal of Business & Economic Issues. Every summer, the CoB puts on the Summer Business Institute, which is a summer camp for kids in 4th – 8th grade. Business students can help inform these kids about business issues that are academic and practical, while participating in recreational and fun activities, as well. Other great resources for business students include The University Center for Economic & Entrepreneurial Development and The International Centre for IT & Development.

Online Programs

To enhance the flexibility of their on-campus MBA program, the CoB offers a completely online MBA that carries the same excellence in teaching and opportunity. The online MBA offers concentrations in Entrepreneurship, Human Resources Management, Accounting, Supply Chain Management, and will soon have a Healthcare Management option.
