The ACBSP-accredited School of Business at Southern Oregon University values drive, commitment, adaptability, resilience, innovation, entrepreneurship, creativity, sustainability, and leadership in every student. The rigorous coursework, small class sizes, faculty expertise, an active learning focus, and a variety of specialized areas educate students to be successful teammates, leaders, critical thinkers, and managers. Being grounded in the liberal arts, balancing theory and practice, and serving the community, all set a firm foundation for the excellence in education and life skills found at the School of Business.

Education

Undergraduate students can study for a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration or Innovation & Leadership or a Bachelor of Applied Science in Business with concentrations in Accounting and Management. The BBA offers concentrations in Public or Managerial Accounting, Management, Hospitality & Tourism Management, and Marketing. Graduate students can complete a Masters in Business Administration attending classes in the evenings and pursuing an area of concentration in Business Analytics, Finance, Human Resources, Accounting, Marketing, Information Analysis & Decision Making, Nonprofit Management, or Arts Management. Undergraduates can gain global insight and a dual degree from both SOU and either Hochschule Harz or HTW Saarlandes in Germany by spending one year at one of these German institutions. Graduates have the opportunity to earn a dual degree, including an MBA from SOU and a Masters in International Management from HTW University in Saarbrucken, Germany. They also have the option to earn an SOU MBA and a Masters in Management from the University of Guanajuato, Mexico.

Student Life

While attending classes is imperative to completing a degree program, life outside of the classroom is equally important in the overall educational experience. Many different social, academic, religious, special interests, and active student groups exist to give students ample opportunity for engagement, relationships, service opportunities, and academic growth. Business-specific groups include the Accounting Students Association and the Hospitality & Tourism Management Club. A great resource for professional development is the Business Leaders Speaker Series, where students can hear from successful alumni and leaders on relevant topics, issues in the workplace, and their own personal, professional experience. Internships are also excellent professional development opportunities. There is an Internship Coordinator wholly devoted to the School of Business students in helping them find and manage internships and providing supervisors to assist. Business students can gain relevant hands-on experience interacting with the Small Business Development Center helping provide resources, training, and counsel for small businesses in the surrounding communities of southern Oregon.

Online Programs

Those who need a flexible schedule and are self-motivated, independent learners can benefit from the excellent 100% online degree programs offered by the School of Business. Online degrees include a Bachelors in Innovation & Leadership, Applied Science in Management, or Business Administration with concentrations in Public or Managerial Accounting and Management. The online MBA offers concentrations in General, Marketing, Accounting, Finance, Business Analytics, or Healthcare Administration.
