John L. Grove College of Business at Shippensburg University was established in 1971. Over time they have established themselves as one of the premier business schools in the Mid-Atlantic Region. In 1981 it became the first school in Pennsylvania’s State System of Higher Education and the ninth college overall in Pennsylvania to become internationally Accredited by the AACSB, the most prestigious business accrediting agency in the world. Grove College of Business has an outstanding faculty where professional research and teaching interests are diverse, and excellent academic programs are available at a low cost. The Groves College of Business Advisory Board houses members who are corporate executives and help to plan programs that offer the experience that companies are looking for.
At Grove College of Business classes are held in smaller settings within state-of-the-art facilities where they strive to meet everyone’s educational needs. Grove offers a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree program with majors in Accounting, Entrepreneurship, Finance, Management, Management Information Systems, Marketing, and Supply Chain Management. They also have a three-year BSBA program and a five-year BSBA/MBA program.
A Master of Business Administration degree and a Doctorate of Business Administration degree are both offered. The Doctorate of Business Administration or DBA just recently received approval, is accredited by the AACSB and is the only one of its kind at a public university in Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia or the District of Columbia. Classes will begin in August of 2020. The MBA programs offer concentrations in Accounting, Business Analytics, Finance, Healthcare Management, and Supply Chain Management. Many post bachelor’s certificates are offered as well, including Advanced Studies in Business, Advanced Supply Chain and Logistics Management, Business Analytics, Finance, Health Care Management, Management Information Systems, Supply Chain and Logistics Management
Shippensburg University offers students many opportunities to connect with other students as well as business professionals with their many student clubs and professional organizations. Alpha Kappa Psi is a coed fraternity and is the oldest professional business fraternity in the United States. They give members the opportunity to learn valuable leadership experience by holding chair positions. Members also form close and lasting friendships and participate in service projects. Student Transition Engagement Partnership and Support-or STEPS is a mentoring program through Grove C.o.B. that is designed to aid transfer students as they transition into the University. Volunteer students are paired with a transfer student during their first semester at Shippensburg. The international business honor society, Beta Gamma Sigma, is also present at Grove. Being nominated to become a member is the highest scholastic honor available for a business student.
Other organizations and clubs include Accounting, American Marketing Association, Enactus, Investment Club, Logistics Management, and Women Leaders in JLG CoB. Business Internships and Study Abroad programs are additionally available to give students more opportunities for learning and growth.
Grove College of Business offers distance learning programs including an online MBA and some business certificates including Advanced Studies in Business Certificate, Advanced Supply Chain and Logistics Management Certificate, Finance Certificate, Health Care Management Certificate, Online Learning, Instruction, and Technology Certificate.
