The Fermanian School of Business at Point Loma Nazarene University fosters an environment full of passion, innovation, novelty, creativity, compassion for others, and service in the community. It is where business students find their purpose in preparing to make a difference in the world of business. They gain leadership skills and essential knowledge through the rigorous curriculum and a variety of professional development opportunities. The business programs have earned the ACBSP accreditation.
Students will gain the necessary skills in strategic and critical thinking, communication, and problem-solving within the undergraduate and graduate coursework. Students can pursue a Bachelors in Business Administration in Accounting, Management, Finance, Marketing, and International Development. They can also receive a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration or Information Systems.
Several opportunities for business students to experience an international education include a short trip to Mexico to observe Mexican business practices and two-week global business trips to places like China, the United Kingdom, Japan, and Ireland. Summer mission trips to the Human Factor Leadership Academy in Ghana are also beneficial. Graduate students can obtain a Daytime Masters in Business Administration in one year, including a field experience course and corporate visits to companies like Warner Brothers, Lyft, Qualcomm, and Google. The Evening MBA allows working professionals to attend classes at night and can be completed in two years with concentration options in Innovation & Entrepreneurship, Project Management, and Organizational Leadership. MBA students can study abroad with faculty-led trips to a variety of places in South America, Europe, and Asia for ten days. Most Fermanian students receive some of the over $40 million awarded to Point Loma students through the various forms of financial aid, including merit-based, transfer, and endowed scholarships.
Numerous business student groups encourage engagement, leadership skills development, and community service while offering networking opportunities. These groups include the Student Accounting Society, Finance and Investment Society, Microfinance Club, ENACTUS, Marketing Club, and Delta Sigma Pi. The Toast at the Point group helps build public speaking skills and effective communication. The Launch Point Club provides entrepreneurial training and guidance. Students in any business major can find applicable internships with prominent companies to continue developing professionally, advance their resume, and make lasting professional connections that can lead to future employment. Service-learning is a massive part of the developmental process, and Fermanian offers a course that combines classwork with communicating and working together with real-life clients on real projects with nonprofit organizations. Students can also work with the Fermanian Business & Economic Institute focusing on effective change in consulting with businesses around the world.
Having an online presence is essential to reach more people with this excellent education. Fermanian offers an adult completion program online for students who have completed an Associates in Business Administration degree. They can pursue a Bachelors in Business Administration with concentrations in Management or Marketing on-campus two evenings a week, while all other coursework is completed online.
