Piedmont College, situated in the beautiful foothills of the Georgia Blue Ridge Mountains, offers exceptional business programs through the Harry W. Walker School of Business. Walker SoB students will gain personal guidance through the small 11:1 student: faculty ratio. The SoB features rigorous programs accredited by the ACBSP. Graduates are hired by a wide range of corporations, such as Trinity Accounting Group, Athens Regional Healthcare, University of Georgia, and the Danish Consulate. More than 95% of students receive financial assistance. Piedmont was recognized for its affordability in 2019 by U.S. News and World Report as a Best Value Regional University. Undergraduate students can study Accounting, Business Analytics, Finance, General Business, Hospitality and Tourism Management, Management, or Marketing. Accounting students can customize their degree with elective courses such as Financial Statement Analysis, Entrepreneurship and New Venture Management, or Financial Institutions and Markets. While the Business Analytics major provides a heavy focus on mathematics, students can still embrace their creative side through electives in Sports Economics, Investment Management, or Quality Management. Finance students can prepare for a bright future with courses in Advanced Accounting, Auditing, or Leadership. General Business students are well-rounded through classes in Advertising and Promotion, Sales Management, and Organizational Behavior. The Hospitality and Tourism Management program has partnered with several restaurants, hotels, and entertainment venues such as The Classic Center Authority and The Classic Center Cultural Foundation, so students gain hands-on experience in a customer service atmosphere. Management students are born leaders who learn how to apply those skills to the business world through courses in Human Resource Management, Facilities and Event Management, and Management Internship. Marketing students will be well-versed in Marketing Research, Sports Marketing, and Advertising, and Communications.
The MBA program is designed for students who desire to elevate their careers. This hybrid program features evening courses, supplemented with online assignments between classes. Students can complete this program in 18 to 24 months. The Logistics Concentration will be introduced Fall of 2020.
The school year provides a robust calendar of events for SoB students through the Delta Mu Delta Honor Society and the American Marketing Association. Freshmen can also begin building leadership skills through the SAIL program. Participants will attend a three-day retreat, be paired with an upper-level student mentor, and complete experiential learning experiences with their peers. Career Services helps students write their resume, cover letter, develop interview skills, and undergo the job search process. In the summer, undergraduate and graduate students can participate in study abroad programs for course credit.
Online learners can earn a Bachelor of Arts degree in Leadership Studies. Students are able to customize this degree to prepare for a variety of leadership careers with courses in Accounting, Business Administration, Criminal Justice, Math, Mass Communication, Political Science, Psychology, and Sociology. Applicants for this program should have an associate’s degree or some college credits.
