Penn State’s AACSB-accredited Smeal College of Business is one of the largest business schools in the country. It started educating future business leaders back in 1953 and has over 6,000 students currently enrolled. The top-of-the-line education offered produces graduates that are lifelong learners who value respect, discovery, integrity, responsibility, excellence, diversity, service, community, and sustainability and are pursued by top organizations worldwide.

Education

Smeal provides incredible academic educational programs. Bachelors degrees exist in Accounting, Management Information Systems, Corporate Innovation & Entrepreneurship, Marketing, Supply Chain & Information Systems, Finance, Risk Management, Management, and the STEM-designated degree in Actuarial Science. Those students who wish to achieve a more advanced undergraduate education can participate in the Sapphire Leadership Academic Program. To build an international business perspective, a wide variety of study abroad locations exist, including Florence, Barcelona, and Moscow. Residential graduate students can complete a Masters in Accounting, Management & Organizational Leadership, Business Analytics, Real Estate Analysis & Development, or Corporate Finance, in just one year. The MBA can be completed in two years and includes the Signature Leadership Communications Program and an international immersion trip. Masters students can participate in an optional Global Immersion trip for one-week to places like South Africa, China, Chile, Croatia, and the Czech Republic. Doctoral students can obtain a Doctorate in Business specializing in Accounting, Management & Organization, Finance, Marketing, Supply Chain & Information Systems, or Real Estate.

Student Life

Students can find a plethora of opportunities to engage with students, faculty, staff, and the community while developing professionally, performing outreach, and experiencing learning. One way is through the many business student organizations, including the Accounting Society, Enterprise Risk Management Association, International Business Association, Investment Association, Beta Alpha Psi, Real Estate Association, Net Impact, Sports Business Club, Global Business Brigades, and Women in Business. Some of the experiential learning opportunities include consulting with real-life nonprofit organizations and human capital companies, offering free income tax assistance, and working in the on-campus simulated Rogers Family Trading Room. Students also get to manage millions of dollars of investments in the Nittany Lion Fund, LLC, and the Garber Venture Capital Fund. More training opportunities exist through career fairs, case competitions, corporate recruiting events, internships, co-ops, and the Executive Lecture Series. A few university centers where business students can learn and serve are the Farrell Center for Corporate Innovation and Entrepreneurship, the Center for Supply Chain Research, and the Institute for Real Estate Studies.

Online Programs

In partnership with the Penn State World Campus, Smeal offers accredited online Masters degrees in Corporate Innovation & Entrepreneurship, Enterprise Architecture & Business Transformation, Supply Chain Management, Marketing Analysis & Insights, and Data Analytics. There is also an interactive and flexible online MBA with 20 different areas of concentration, including Business Architecture, Cybersecurity Intelligence Leadership, Homeland Security, Negotiation & Influence, and Business Sustainability Strategy. The online MBA requires a five-day residency at the beginning of the program and an optional Global Immersion one-week trip.
