Oklahoma Christian University was established in 1950 and was first dubbed Central Christian College. The school’s first campus was planted in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, and the student enrollment started at less than 100 total learners. Today’s Oklahoma University features a student body of over 2,000 students, and the university is an internationally recognized institution of higher learning. The university was formed with close ties to the Churches of Christ and continues with that tradition today.

The Graduate School of Business at Oklahoma Christian University is led with the mission of being a source of higher learning that transforms students’ lives for Christian leadership, faith, and service. The university claims itself to be a Christian community of education that seeks to be guided by the teachings of Jesus Christ found in the bible. While the university and business school welcome students from all walks and faith backgrounds, all students and staff agree to abide by the university’s covenant.

Education

The Graduate School of Business at Oklahoma Christian University currently offers two business degrees. Graduate students enrolled in the business school have the option of choosing a Master of Accountancy and a Master of Business Administration. The business school offers these programs as an on-campus experience or through distance learning online. By completing coursework on one to two nights each week, a graduate student can complete all requirements for these programs in just 12 months.

Core courses within the MAcc include Legal and Regulatory Issues, Ethics, Decision Making and Communication, Economic Issues, and Financial Services. The MBA features preparatory courses, core courses, and track courses depending on whatever specialization a graduate student chooses. Emphases within the MBA include Accounting, Project Management, Leadership and Organization, Marketing, Finance, Health Services Management, Human Resources, and International Business.

Student Life

Oklahoma Christian University currently supports 68 student organizations. The possibility of students forming new clubs and organizations is also a priority of the university. The school sees the potential of students finding their niche as a priority. Academic clubs and organizations at Oklahoma Christian include Alpha Chi, BIT, Eagles Health Initiative, Honors Advisory Council, Mock Trial, and Psi Chi. These opportunities are available to on-campus and online students alike. Student organizations allow learners to grow social networks and have a positive college experience at the undergraduate and graduate levels.

Online Programs

The Master of Accountancy at the business school is an excellent way for distance learners to earn the hours they need to sit for the CPA exam. The rigorous curriculum prepares students for the exam as well as a successful career in finance. Some of the Accountancy-focused courses within the program include Advanced Auditing and Professional Ethics, Advanced Tax Accounting, Accounting Research and Quantitative Techniques, and Accounting Theory. The online MBA also features excellent courses, including Managerial Ethics, Accounting Analytics, and Marketing Management.
