Oklahoma Baptist University was founded in the early 1900s by the Baptist General Convention of Oklahoma. It has a long history of offering quality, Christian business programs through the Paul Dickinson College of Business. Paul Dickinson was recognized among Business Colleges of Distinction for the 2018-2019 school year. All business programs have met the rigorous qualifications for ACBSP accreditation.

OBU has consistently been ranked Oklahoma’s highest regional college for 25 years by U.S. News and World Report and has made the Princeton Review’s “Best in the West” list for 15 consecutive years. Forbes also recognizes OBU among “America’s Best Colleges.” Business alumni are currently employed at Ernst & Young, KPMG, IBM, Boeing, Microsoft, The Baptist Foundation of Oklahoma, and Northwestern Mutual. Graduates are also advancing their education at Cornell, Duke, Vanderbilt, and many other top-notch institutions. Six months following graduation, 99% of the Class of 2018 were employed, in graduate school, or both.

Education

Undergraduate students will gain the skills needed for contemporary business careers by earning a bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Computer Science, Finance, International Business, Management, Marketing, or Social Entrepreneurship. All business students will take Introduction to Organizational Management to develop leadership skills. Accounting majors will pursue either the Interdisciplinary or Information Assurance emphasis and will be prepared to sit for the CPA exam. Students aspiring to take the CFA should major in Finance. International Business majors work with local Oklahoma businesses on expanding globally and have the opportunity to complete international business internships. Marketing students will graduate with a solid grasp of digital marketing and social media platforms.

The Master of Business Administration is offered through the College of Graduate and Professional Studies. Classes for this 33-credit hour program are offered one evening per week at the downtown Oklahoma City campus to accommodate work schedules of professional students. Spring and fall semesters are divided into two sessions, allowing students to complete their degree in as few as 18 months. Students can also stand out amongst job competition by earning a certificate in Business Operations, Corporate Innovation, Project Management, Leadership, or Energy Management.

Student Life

From student organizations to global outreach, there’s something that is sure to spark your interest at OBU. Business students who join Enactus will be able to serve others through entrepreneurial action, and will also benefit from an annual etiquette dinner, interview night, training events, and a career fair. Honors students have the opportunity to spend a month during the summer studying abroad in China, Ecuador, Greece, or Italy while earning up to 10-credit hours.

Online Programs

The online MBA is perfect for busy students who need an efficient route to earn an advanced degree. This degree utilizes Vertical Learning Curve, a unique 3D virtual-reality learning platform. Students have the opportunity to complete a virtual internship with an Oklahoma company with real deadlines and co-workers. This MBA is self-paced, but students typically complete it in about two to three years.
