Norwich University was established in 1819 and is the nation’s oldest private military college. Norwich is an innovative university that has served as the pioneer of many programs, including ROTC, admitting women and international students, and basing education on experiential learning. The School of Business and Management holds prestigious business accreditation from the ACBSP. Additionally, the Project Management concentration for the MBA program is fully accredited through the PMI Global Accreditation Center. Many graduates utilize their management knowledge to advance to officer rankings in the military, but several alumni serve as leaders in the civilian world as well. One of the most prominent business graduates was Harry Bates Thayer, a former president of AT&T.

Education

Students will be challenged with a rigorous academic curriculum with majors available in Accounting, Business Management, and International Business. A double major in Accounting/Management is a popular combination, requiring only two additional courses, yet expanding potential career avenues. The Management program emphasizes military and international leadership. This degree can be tailored to match career goals with concentrations available in Computer Information Systems, Financial Economics, Leadership, Marketing, and Sports Management. International Business majors will broaden their cultural perspective with an overseas semester-long study abroad experience and study a new language. These business degrees are frequently coupled with a suggested minor in Computer Crime and Forensics, Computer Science, Economics, Finance, Entrepreneurship, and Information Assurance.

Student Life

Norwich offers a strong sense of community that makes it feel like home. Students can strengthen their leadership skills by participating in the four-year Leadership Development Program, hold an office in the Student Government Association, or perform community service. Coaching for leadership is a one-day program that pairs students with alumni or faculty members to gain exposure to real-world careers. Students who feel they’d benefit from a more long-term mentorship can participate in the GUIDE or Corporal/Civilian Academic Mentoring program. The Career and Internship Center offers CashCourse to teach students about personal finances, and several career fairs and job events throughout the year.

Online Programs

The College of Graduate and Continuing Studies helps leaders around the world complete their education virtually. Undergraduate students can pursue an online Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. Concentrations in Cyber Security Management, Human Resource Management, Procurement and Contract Management, Financial Services Management, Leadership Studies, and Supply Chain Management are offered.
