
Northwest Missouri State University is home to the award-winning Melvin D. and Valorie G. Booth School of Business. This business school is highly accredited by the ACBSP. From day one, students begin preparing to ensure they are career-ready by graduation with a heavy emphasis on hands-on opportunities, such as Knacktive, a student-run digital marketing firm. Within six months of graduation, 97% of graduates have secured employment or are continuing their education. NMSU states tuition is among the lowest in the nation, and textbooks and laptops are included. U.S. News and World Report recently ranked Northwest as a top moderately selective university in Missouri.
Education
Students will thrive in the business programs at Booth SoB. Undergraduate students can earn a bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Economics, Business Education, Business Management, Data Science: Business, Economics, Finance, International Business, Marketing, or Organizational Behavior/Human Resource Management. Accounting students can pursue the Managerial or Public Accounting route. Finance students have four specialization options: Corporate Finance, Financial Computing, Financial Services, or Finance Management. Students can also round out their degree by adding a minor in Accounting Information Systems, Agricultural Finance, or Sport Management.
Students will grow intellectually over the course of their graduate studies. A Master of Business Administration is available in Agricultural Economics or Business Decision and Analytics. Each of these programs are 33-credit hours and can be completed on-campus in one year. The Logan Foundation Scholarship is available in amounts ranging from $300 to $3,000 for graduate business students who demonstrate financial need and give back to their community.
Student Life
The vibrant business community at Booth SoB offers organizations that help fuel students’ passions. The Business Academic Living Community fosters a sense of belonging amongst business students, as well as features service-learning projects, additional academic support services, and local business tours. Marketing students can collaborate with Advertising and Graphic Design students in AdInk. Enactus members teach business education to students in K-12.
If you’re looking to impress future employers with your resume, consider joining the prestigious Delta Mu Delta, FMA National Honor Society, or Omicron Delta Epsilon. Other business organizations include the Accounting Society, American Marketing Association, Financial Management Association, and Pi Beta Alpha Business Club. These organizations bring guest speakers to campus and are a great way for students to learn about available internships. Career Services also hosts Speed Networking, Career Day, Mock Interview Day, and a Part-Time Job Fair where many students land a position that provides a valuable learning experience. Students can learn more about all of these opportunities at the annual Profession-based Learning Palooza.
Online Programs
Booth SoB is committed to delivering high-quality online degrees. Students who prefer distance learning can earn a Bachelor of Science in Business Management, Business Technology, or Marketing, or a Master of Business Administration with an emphasis in Data Analytics, General Management, Human Resource Management, Management, or Marketing. The online MBA can be completed between one to two years. Online tutoring is available 24 hours a day, so students can always get the help they need with their assignments.
