The prestigious New Jersey City University School of Business is ideally positioned in the heart of Jersey City’s financial district. Students have easy access to real-world industry leaders and internships in New Jersey and New York. Within the business building, students receive phenomenal hands-on experience at the two data science centers and the state-of-the-art trading floor simulation lab. Five distinct departments comprise the SoB: Accounting, Economics, Finance, Management, and Marketing. According to NJCU, it offers the most affordable tuition of any institution statewide. Students who make NJCU their college home can pursue their passion and graduate prepared to be successful business leaders or entrepreneurs. In 2018, three NJCU alumni opened a Jersey & Co. Gelato, a popular student hangout just minutes from campus.

Education

Undergraduate students can complete a bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Economics, Entrepreneurship, Finance, Global Business, Hospitality Management, Management, Marketing, Sports Management, or Supply Chain, Logistics, and Maritime Port Management. Prepare for the modern business era with a minor in Public Relations or Social Media Marketing. High-achieving freshmen accepted into the Honors Program will be awarded a four-year full-tuition scholarship.

Graduate students can advance their skills by earning a Master of Science in Accounting or Finance or an MBA. Finance students can customize their degree with a specialization in Financial Analysis, Financial Management, or Financial Risk Management and Compliance. Specializations for the MBA include Finance, Marketing, Organizational Management, and Leadership, or a completely customized degree created by the student. To stay relevant to the continuously evolving business needs specializations in Business Analytics and Big Data will soon make their grand debut.

Professionals from all backgrounds are welcome in the MBA program, and those bringing experience from a non-business profession will receive personal online coaching via the Harvard Business School Online to catch them up. An accelerated MBA option is available starting summer 2020 and can be completed in one year. All MBA degrees are 36 credit hours. Graduate students seeking an extra boost in the competitive job market can earn a professional certificate in Financial Planning, Financial Management, Investment Analysis, Management Accounting, or Portfolio Management.

Student Life

Student groups include the Association of Supply Chain Management, Financial Management Association, Mock Trial Team, and the Student Investment Management Group. The SIMG manages a portfolio worth over $220,000. The Mock Trial Team was awarded the AMTA Spirit Award during the 2017-2018 school year. The SoB Career Services assists students in all facets of the job search process ranging from creating a resume to mock interview practice sessions. The Cooperative Education Program allows students to earn a salary and college credits while learning on the job. Co-op programs are offered through non-profit organizations, government agencies, and corporations.

Students can participate in multiple opportunities throughout their college experience to gain experience in various sectors. Studying abroad is an exciting way for students to learn about business in other cultures. Short term faculty-led trips include Exploring Business in Mexico and South Korea: Global Logistics and Management. Honors students are invited to travel to Germany and Greece.
