National Louis University is a private higher education institution founded in 1886, serving mainly adult learners. U.S. News and World Report recently ranked the student body population among the Top 25 Most Diverse National Universities. According to Money Magazine, the graduates are also among the most prepared to “make the world a better place.” The School of Business and Management can help students interested in pursuing business to make their mark on the world. The business programs hold accreditation with the IACBE, and are offered at Chicago and Florida locations, as well as online.

Education

The Bachelor of Science in Management is a comprehensive undergraduate degree designed to provide foundational coursework in key business principles, such as organizational dynamics, marketing, management, leadership, and business strategies. The majority of the professors work in professional business careers during the day, and teach classes at night, so professors are able to share their experiences as well as assign meaningful real-world projects. Professors integrate case studies, teamwork, and projects into the curriculum to ensure students are prepared to be successful in the business world. Students will also work on polishing their presentation, writing, and communication skills. Those entering the program with an Associate’s degree or extensive work experience can graduate with their Bachelor’s degree in only 18 months.

Students can expand on their knowledge by earning a Master of Science in Human Resource Management and Development or Written Communication, or a Master of Business Administration. The MBA program offers two distinctive routes: Entrepreneurship or Non-profit Management, to align with students’ career goals. The relevant skills learned in class can be immediately applied to the student’s job the next day. An Ed.D. in Higher Education Leadership is also offered for students interested in working at a post-secondary institution.

Student Life

Students create a professional portfolio that sets them apart by getting involved in student organizations, leadership activities, and volunteer work. Business students can network with local businesses through the NLU Entrepreneur Club. The National Society of Leadership and Success is an honor society, requiring members to complete eight leadership workshops to be inducted. Students who are inducted will be awarded a Leadership certificate and become eligible for scholarships, discounts, and an exclusive online job bank.

The university has partnerships with organizations such as Hyatt Regency, Aflac, and the American Red Cross, which opens doors for students to internship and employment opportunities. The Civic Engagement Center pays for 10 students to attend a three-day leadership conference in Washington, D.C., in exchange for 12 volunteer hours to the university. Acceptance into this program is highly competitive. Business students can serve the community by assisting low-income families with their taxes at the Center for Economic Progress. Students can also provide financial education to help working families break the cycle of poverty and create and maintain a budget. Service trips are also available throughout the United States.

Online Programs

Working students can continue their careers while advancing their learning. All of the on-campus programs are also offered in a flexible, online mode.
