Students come to Morehead State University to achieve their dreams. Dedicated professors are there to guide them and help bring out their full potential. With the average class size of 19 students, professors know their students by name. MSU has been recognized as an Institution of Community Engagement by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching. U.S. News and World Report consistently ranks Morehead among the Best Public Regional Universities in the South and as a Best Value College. Nearly 94% of students receive financial aid. The AACSB accredited School of Business Administration offers numerous scholarships geared towards business students.

Education

Undergraduate academic programs are offered in Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, Management, Marketing, Small Business Management and Entrepreneurship, General Business, Business Information Technology Education, and Sport Management. An Associate’s degree in Business Studies is also available. Incoming freshmen can ensure a smooth transition by participating in the Summer Success Academy Program. This five-week intensive program allows students to enroll in two courses at a discounted tuition rate, in a supportive environment with the assistance of academic advisors, tutors, and peer coaches. Graduate students can earn a Master of Arts in Sport Management or a graduate certificate in Health Systems Management.

Student Life

Business students will make friends and expand their networking opportunities through participation in one of the four business organizations. Business organizations include the Accounting Club, the Association of Information Technology Professionals, Beta Gamma Sigma, and Phi Beta Lambda. The Innovation Launchpad is a student incubator, which provides students and the community with shared workspaces, free consulting services, workshops, and business support. Students can also join in the efforts of assisting local businesses through the Small Business Development Center. Academic credit can also be earned when students partake in substantial service-learning projects related to their field of study. The Student Services Center can help students find internships or fellowships. Students can begin conducting research with faculty members as early as their freshman year through the Undergraduate Research Fellowship. Research fellows can work up to 15 hours per week and will be compensated for an hourly stipend. The Business and Technology Student Conference is an annual event that brings students and faculty together to discuss current topics within the industry.

Online Programs

The Master of Business Administration is a flexible degree, offered 100% online. The general MBA is 30 credit hours and consists of 24 hours of core courses and six hours of electives. A broad range of electives are available to meet the students’ career plans, such as Auditing Applications, Web Information Systems and Internet Technologies, Business Cycles and Economic Forecasting, Consumer Psychology in Online Marketing, Women and Men in Management, and Ethics in Public Administration. The Health System Management Track is 36 credit hours and offers electives, such as Trends in the Healthcare Industry, Healthcare Public Policy, and Management of Healthcare Information Systems. Students in the general program can gain hands-on experience through enrolling in the Small Business Institute Field Project course, and Health Track students can develop real-life skills through Community Clinical Placements.
