Education

The mission of the Robert W. Plaster School of Business is to “provide quality, student-centered, accessible business education programs for undergraduate and graduate students from the four-state area and beyond.” All degrees are accredited through the ACBSP and focus on a set of core values. Innovation, respect, integrity, social responsibility, and community are just a few of the pillars of the business programs. Upon graduation, the Plaster SoB students can expect to be exceptional communicators, highly capable within their field of study, excellent problem solvers, and ethical leaders.

Business students can major in Accounting, Aviation, Business Education, Computer Information Science, Economics, Engineering Technology, and more. Students looking to complete their graduate degree can earn a Master’s of Accountancy or Management Master’s of Science. The Accountancy program offers two tracks: a traditional program or an accelerated program. Both follow the same course schedule with relevant classes such as Financial Accounting and Reporting, Ethics and Professional Responsibility, Financial Analysis, and Strategic Management. Those in the MMS program can specialize in either Human Resource Management or General Management.

Student Life

Missouri Southern State University sits in Joplin, Missouri. It is the fourth largest city in Missouri and home to over 50,000 residents. Students have many things to enjoy. Restaurants, coffee houses, farmer’s markets, and concerts are all easily accessible.

On-campus students have amenities and interesting activities as well. Each semester there are many free events like movie nights, comedy shows, performances, and picnics with food provided. Organizations like Entrepreneurship Club, MSSU International Lions, MSSU Accounting Club, or Southern Leadership Academy make connecting with like-minded peers simple for business students.

Watching and participating in sports is a favorite activity. Men’s sports include Baseball, Basketball, Golf, Football, Cross Country, Track and Field. Women’s teams have many of the same options with the addition of Volleyball and Soccer.

Online Programs

The Robert W. Plaster College of Business offers an online Bachelor’s of Science in Business Administration. Six areas of emphasis make it easy to find a degree that fits your individual needs. Concentration options include Accounting, General Business, Human Resource Management, International Business, Management, or Marketing.
