The business programs offered through the College of Management at Metropolitan State University are “designed to serve a diverse student population with an applied, globally-oriented curriculum, empowering them to achieve career goals as ethical and strategic leaders and managers in business, government, and non-profit organizations.” Students who complete their degree can expect to have a broad knowledge of the field of business, be able to analyze the impacts of influences on organizations, solve problems with information and technology, understand how to work effectively with diverse groups of people, communicate effectively, and have steps in place to make ethical decisions.

Education

There are more than 15 degree options available through the College of Management. Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, Entrepreneurship and Innovation, Information Assurance, and International Business are just a few of the choices. Students can also choose a minor and earn several certificates along with their degrees. Certificates can be earned in relevant topics like Database Administration, Management Information Systems, Global Supply Chain Management, or Project Management. All programs are accredited by the ACBSP. This accreditation shows Metropolitan State’s commitment to delivering the best business education possible, whether courses are taken on-campus or online.

Student Life

The Student Life and Leadership Development office works to holistically improve the student experience at MSU. Activities are planned to give positive experiences in recreation, academics, cultural acceptance, and social engagement. A few of the activities offered are summer services projects, leadership development workshops, community cultural events, and campus-wide gatherings. Students can also find employment on campus or participate in Student Governance to build their resume. Over 40 organizations offer a common ground for meeting peers. Options are diverse and include many topics like the American Sign Language Students Organization, Black Student Union, Cybersecurity and Forensics Student Organization, and Environmental Club.

The Student Center is also a place to meet and hang out with other students. The Center has family-friendly study rooms, quiet spaces, a lactation pod, as well as computer access and printing services. It is also home to the fitness center, which houses a variety of cardio and weight equipment.

Online Programs

Students can take many individual courses online or complete a variety of degrees from a full-distance platform at Metropolitan State University. In fact, as a member of the Minnesota State College and Minnesota Online, they are a part of an online catalog with 245 online degrees and over 6,500 distance learning courses. Online bachelor’s degree options at Metropolitan State include Business Administration, Finance, Human Resource Management, Management, Marketing, Organizational Administration, or Supply Chain and Operations Management. Master’s can be completed in Nonprofit Leadership and Management, Public Administration. Business Administration, Public and Nonprofit Administration, and Management Information Systems.
