Messiah College was established in 1909. The campus is located just 12 miles from the state capital of Pennsylvania and rests on 471 suburban acres. The student body is diverse, with representation from 38 states and 30 countries from across the globe. While the Messiah is a private Christian college, there are also more than 60 faith denominations within the College’s community. A mission of “educat[ing] men and women toward maturity of intellect, character and Christian faith in preparation for lives of service, leadership, and reconciliation in church and society,” leads instruction and activities both on and off-campus.
Education
The School of Business, Education, and Social Sciences offers many business-focused degrees. A Bachelor’s of Arts can be completed in Business Administration, Economic Development, or Economics. Bachelor’s of Science in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, International Business, or Marketing can also be earned. Within the Business Administration degree, students can major in Entrepreneurship, Human Resource Management, Leadership, or Technology and Operations Management.
Student Life
Eighty-five percent of Messiah students live on-campus. There are 22 NCAA Division III teams to cheer on. Sports play such an important part of the campus community that Money Magazine and Sports Illustrated have both placed the College among the Top 100 Schools for Sports Lovers. Outside of the NCAA teams, students can participate in either recreational or club teams. Recreational teams include fun activities like Ultimate Frisbee, Ice Hockey, or Flag Football. Club sports teams include Field Hockey, as well as Soccer and Ultimate Frisbee for both men and women.
First-year students can choose to stay in three distinct housing options, making it easy to build relationships outside of the classroom. There are also four dining areas that make grabbing a meal between classes a breeze. There are 70 plus student clubs and organizations to choose from. Clubs cover many areas of interest like culture, fine arts, faith, service, media, academics, and more.
Online Programs
At Messiah College, students can earn their MBA or Master’s of Arts in Healthcare Leadership or Strategic Leadership completely online. The MBA option includes several concentration options in Digital Marketing, Healthcare Management, Strategic Leadership, General Management, and Dietetics. The 36 credit-hour program follows a two-year timeline. There are extensive networking and career development opportunities built into the curriculum. The experience ends with a comprehensive capstone project where students work with a faculty member and organization of their choice. The Strategic Leadership path includes courses like The Character of a Leader, Organizational Effectiveness, and Diversity in Leadership. Students participate in a research project and capstone towards the end of their degree. As with all of the degrees at Messiah, faith is integrated into many aspects of online graduate programs.
